Date: 2014-01-21 11:02 pm (UTC)Writer: Nightwing?
DC Editor: Done! And then we'll bring him back after a year. We wouldn't want the death to have long lasting impact or anything otherwise how would we return to status quo?
...Honestly, I do wish that if a character was going to be killed they have it last for a decade or so so it has real gravity when they bring the character back.

*I* wish they would do stories where someone got taken out of action for a 5-10 year period, then when they got back it'd have about as much impact, but without even having to get into the plot device that is resurrections!
But barring that, yea, actually keep 'em dead for awhile.

Once that happens, what's left?

Date: 2014-01-22 01:00 am (UTC)The role of Oracle was defined by Barbara Gordon's abilities, not by her disabilities, and defining such a name by the injuries of someone is pretty insulting. She was Oracle because she was the best hacker in the DC Universe, and with her super-heroing around as batgirl she is hardly making a drop sized dent next to the river of impact she had before on the fight against crime.
Not that it would be a first, just recently we saw the same with Selina Kile in Flashpoint's Batman and it was as insulting there as it would be here.
Stealing a fully fledged character's identity and attributing to another one due to a common or similar disabilitie is one of the most common and insulting examples of ableism. I would prefer they killed Dick Grayson off instead of doing that.

Date: 2014-01-22 01:19 am (UTC)My guess is that we're going to a new group title replacing Nightwing and possibly Teen Titans. We've heard that Dick is persona non grata to most of the world because they'll see him fight beside Owlman, and assume he'd gone to the bad.
So he goes underground and forms a new team who know him and trust him of old, but who might no longer currently be heroes (If one were named Donna, and another were named Wally, I could live with that) to operate out of the shadows.
As for a name, "The Outsiders" would seem like a decent choice

Date: 2014-01-22 02:07 am (UTC)There will be three new Justice League titles launching in April. The already announced JUSTICE LEAGUE CANADA will replace JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA thru August as a result of events in FOREVER EVIL. The others will spin out of FOREVER EVIL as well:
>OUTLAW JUSTICE. In this modern day western adventure series, superheroes have been outlawed in post-FOREVER EVIL America and the most wanted man in the country is Dick Grayson. He will lead an underground band of heroes operating behind enemy lines, hunted by both sides.
>YOUNG JUSTICE will focus on the lives and loves of the next generation of superheroes. This series will include THE NEW 52 debut of heroes like: Aqualad and Miss Martian.
The first is happening, the third seems like a logical extension of the recently announced cancellation of Teen Titans, and the second seems to be plausible.
How accurate the last two are remains to be seen of course, but I can well imagine Dick's path heading in that direction (Since there's already a team called "The Outlaws" I thought Outsiders would work better.)

Date: 2014-01-22 04:40 pm (UTC)Funny observation though. DC are teasing they're killing off Nightwing, one of my absolute favourite DC characters, but confirmed they're bringing both Steph and Wally back, both who're also in my list of absolute favourite DC characters.
Meanwhile, over in Marvel, they're teasing that they're killing off Mockingbird, one of my absolute favourite Marvel characters (who has more than a few similarities to Nightwing), but they're also bringing back Nightcrawler and Spider-Man, two of my favourite Marvel characters.
Its like both companies are taking away something I love, but giving me something back to take the sting off of it.
It does not work at all.

Date: 2014-01-22 06:08 pm (UTC)They also killed Taskmaster a few issues ago, which also bums me out since him and Bobbi were pretty much the main reasons I was following this book. If Bobbi does bite it, I'm probably dropping it from my pull list.
