I said Jack London was an influence, but his science in "Call of the Wild" was a bit iffy. In "White Fang" it was a little bit better, for the period, but still we know now that's not how wolves operate. Wolves, fundamentally, are family animals. A lot of our understanding about dominance comes from wolves in captivity, which is like trying to uncover how human society works by looking at prisons.' -- Kieron Gillen

Don't even get me started on the "pack of wolves vs. one bear" thing, either. >:(

To be fair, this is a bear that Sinister has evidently been mucking about with.

Yeah, there's a reason why dogs and wolves are the animals most famous for bear-baiting. Well, aside from humans, of course. Then again, polar bears put most other bears to shame. They can be 1500 lbs and nearly 10 feet tall, in extremis. Arctic wolves have been known to eat polar bear cubs, but they'd have a tougher time with the fully grown version.

Then again, anything's possible - to tie it back to the story, there's even reports of a bear being killed by a wolverine that managed to bite its throat and suffocate it.

LOL we had this debate at work. Turns out its much the matchup of a bear (grizzlies and polar bears vs. grey/arctic wolves to be exact) is actually a lot closer to call than people think. Bears after all are "godless killing machines"
