Daredevil #36 is the first comic in decades that has made me tear up

I've only been reading Daredevil for about a year and a half. I think I came on board with #18. Since then, I've been buying back issues off Comixology and just discovered Marvel Unlimited. I'm gradually becoming informed of what's gone on in the last 50 years and recently read the King of Hell's Kitchen arc (DD Volume 2 #56-60 by Bendis and Maleev). In that arc, Foggy had a very valid complaint in issue 58:




That time, Matt went and did something truly audacious that had huge fallout, for Matt, but also made a lot of problems for Foggy.






I think the last time I cried over a comic was back when Cypher died and Rahne was going through Danger Room scenarios to see how many ways she could have saved him. Record has now been broken some 25 years later...

Mark Waid is part of the antidote to the return of grimdark 90s-ism to comics. Much as I liked Bendis' and Brubaker's runs, it's stabilizing to read a version of DareDevil that isn't an abyss of turgid misery

I read somewhere that Mark Waid's mission statement for the new series was to write a Daredevil story that didn't drive him to drink.

I don't wanna say this and make it sound like I'm one of those psycho tumblr yaoi fangirls or whatever but.....I wonder what it would be like if Foggy and Matt became a couple? I don't really know much about Daredevil aside from his and Elektra's origins but would that go against whatever Marvel mythos there is now?

They've both been through so much pain...it's upsetting. I apologize if my comment sounds stupid but it is just a thought...

Foggy would go mad, be crippled, be killed, be resurrected by the Hand, turn evil, be killed again, return again, and finally kill himself.

Not necessarily in that order.
Being Daredevil's significant other is...not healthy.

Daredevil is pretty catholic. (which, like most literary catholics, means he acts like veryone else but feels twice as bad about it)

Yeah, weirdly, I could totally see Matt hooking up with a guy (and probably more than once) but not having a relationship with a guy. He's got that very literary Catholic thing where he might do something he thinks is wrong in the heat of the moment, or after much provocation, but not as a plan and not in the long term.

Daredevil's haunted penis aside, it strikes me Matt and Foggy hooking up would be a huge mistake. Matt's doesn't have a lot of positive relationships - it's basically Foggy and his surviving ex-girlfriends. Sex would probably just screw up their relationship.

There's no need to apologize, though. We're all slash-friendly here. Nothing wrong with bringing it up. :)

I am not one to tear down another persons view of a story. However I have to say I really like that they are JUST friends. True friends through and through, over the long history they have had ups and downs, roes that left them broken but in the end they came back to being friends. Out of all of comicdom I can't think of another true friendship that is equal. Foggy is, in my opinion a better lawyer and a defender of his own truths. Hell look to some of the old stories where Ben Urich and Foggy talked about Matt. When I see Foggy and Matt I see some of my old friendships and really enjoy that it is in comic format.

Probably. Most of the time, when Matt is shown with his glasses off, his eyes appear to have cataracts (or whatever other condition would put a white film over the irises, rendering them an 'unnatural' color). Matt's usually pretty big on image: snappy dresser, expensive suits that he has a delivery service ship to his destination so they don't get creased in a knapsack. If there's a chance that anyone he talks to might get at all freaked out by his 'weird-looking' eyes, he's going to take steps.

And since the stick is also his billy club, I'd say he's likely to have it on him. Will he keep it folded and concealed in an inside jacket pocket? Possible. But my guess is he'll still keep it.
