Ra's has apparently stolen the bodies of both Damian and Talia for... well, what do YOU think... and if your answer WASN'T "Dunking them in a Lazarus Pit" there please don't tell me what you WERE thinking!

En route in the Batsub to some co-ordinates Damian had left (Which now looks like he's stolen it off of Black Manta on a REALLY bad day) Bruce discovers that A) Titus has stowed away and B) the bodies of the teachers Damian had mentioned his mother and grandfather had hired for him are littering the ocean floor... how Batman can know that a skeleton was a teacher in the past is not elaborated on, but one of them was wearing glasses, so maybe he just assumes that they were brainy because of that.

Aquaman joins him





I think I speak for most of us here when I say... "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!!"

A Bat Manta ray ship?

Its a good thing this isn't the actual DC universe, or Aquaman would be PISSED.

Aquaman: So, silly question, why did you pattern your ship after the guy who MURDERED MY INFANT SON?

Batman: Uhhhh, I was kinda hoping you would never actually see this ship. Sorry.

Aquaman: 'Lord knows what'? Dude its Ras Al Ghul, six to one he's gonna dunk em in the Lazarus pit to bring them back to life.

Batman: He does tend to do that.

...Why IS Batman's sub shaped like a Manta ray? Last time I checked, Manta rays and bats didn't have a lot in common.

Actually, it used to be the Manta's, Bruce picked it up at a Gotham City police auction a couple years ago.

I thought this was the actual DC universe. Then again I have lost track of what is and what isn't in the new 52.

I suspect that might be crinos assessment of the New 52. This title is set in the current DCU, but whether one considers that to be the "real" one is still a matter of some conjecture amongst fans.

Ra's seems rather unfazed that his nemesis has shown up early AND is backed up by (for all intents and purposes) Undersea Superman.

Ra's has been living for an awfully long time and pretty much defines the concept of world weary, it would take an awful lot to faze him I suspect.

Pfft, Ra's has nothing on Vandal Savage. Guy's been around since the time mammoths roamed the Earth. He's seen and done (and possibly invented) every horrible thing a human being can do to other human beings. Heck, he invented evil as a human concept.

Trouble is, Vandal can put that on his CV, but how would you check his references?

The guy claims to be Blackbeard, Ghengis Khan, Julius Caesar and Napoleon. Considering they historically look nothing alike, I think we can take his claims with a hint of salt.

Seeing how crazy Bruce went trying to bring back Damian (like dissecting Frankenstein), why would he be opposed to Ra's putting him in the lazarus pit?

....because Lazarus pits turn people into crazy murderers? I can think of a few reasons Bruce might have a problem with that. I know I'd see it as the most hideous kind of violation to bring back a loved one by inverting everything they stood for.

The "crazy murderer" phase usually seemed to be short lived. Talia was able to resist it until Nyssa dunked her in there umpteen times.

Because the entire arc Tomasi did dealing with Damian's death was basically the whole 'five stages of grieving' thing. The last stage being acceptance.

In addition to the reasons listed above, it's the freaking Demon's Head. It seems doubtful that his motives are purely benevolent. Heck, he once tried to steal Damien's body for himself.

So Lazarus Pits can revive the dead now? Didn't they used to just be able to rejuvenate dying people? Damien and Talia have been clinically dead long enough that the Lazarus Pits shouldn't be able to save them. Maybe Ra's plan goes beyond "dunk them in a Lazarus Pit"?

It could well go beyond it (Not sure what the crystal thingie in the globe is), but it's been implied they can bring the long dead back (a bad idea plotwise IMHO) since "Tower of Babel", where Ra's offers to bring Thomas and Martha Wayne back as a serious proposition.

And the revelation in "Hush" that Bruce briefly considered the idea of putting Jason Todd in a Lazarus Pit.

With the retcons of how Todd came back that would have been funny if he tried.

"I was going to ask you to use a Lazarus Pit to save Jason but since he tried killing me when I got here I guess you already did."

I think that it was shown to only briefly bring them back to life, as shown in the Black Adam miniseries that took place after 52, where he dunks his wife's corpse in one, only for her to disintegrate into a skeleton after a few minutes.

Didn't Shiva use it to bring Cass back to life after she was killed?

Also, I think the reason why Adam was unsuccessful in resurrecting Isis is because he lost her ring finger before he put her in.

It's been a while since I've read it, but from what I recall that was all a ruse by Felix Faust so that he could keep a very alive Isis for himself.

No, in the first issue he brought her back to life with the Lazarus pit, but it didn't work because she was missing a finger. He met with Faust after.
