A while back, DC's "Channel 52" feature that runs in the backs of their books ran this teaser for Grant Morrison's upcoming Multiversity event.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Morrison and company do with this mini-series, especially since it looks like it will tie into whatever DC's doing next April.

Thank you for sharing this.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who just skips the Channel52 pages on the end of each comic. The writing is so badly done and infused with the current dissonance between what DC wants to hype and what I'm interested in that to me it's worst than an ad page.

Does that license plate have any significance?

It says "Fawcett City" on it, to clarify that this is an alternate Captain Marvel family.

Which nod to Watchmen? I can see the Question, but Rorschach is a variant on the Question anyway.

Roeschach was based on The Question, while Nite-Owl was based on Blue Beetle. In the bottom right corner of the above scan we have The Question encountering Blue Beetle 2 who is flying a beetle ship that appears to be very similar to Nite-Owl 2's owl ship.

Chicken and egg, Archie is based off the Bug like Nite-Owl is based off Blue Beetle.

The Ted Kord Blue Beetle has been flying his Bug since 1967 (I think), and Archie (Nite-Owl's vehicle) was specifically based on the Bug.

yeah i know... but this scene is similar to a scene that was in the Watchmen. where Nite-Owl was in Archie and Rorshach was outside looking in, if i remember correctly.

Fair enough. I don't know enough about Ted Kord's history to say much about the Bug or how much it usually resembles Nite-Owl's ship, I'm just saying that the version portrayed here looks very similar and helps make those panels into a strong Watchmen reference.

This Question is so skinny he evokes Rorshach to me.

Hasn't Morrison been saying for years about the Charlton heroes issue that it's outright based on Watchmen? As in it's his attempt at doing a twenty first century take on the story; at least that's what I've read.

Yes. I'd imagine he'd be alarmed by Barry Allen repeatedly breaking the multiverse for his own petty whims.

I just read the entirety of Seven Goddamn Soldiers, and if Multiversity is as good as that, I'm up for this.
Morrison is one of the few writers who can pull off the Invisible String Plot.

First I was going to complain how it seemed that they've drawn Mary Marvel with another revealling top again (she's fifteen, people!), but then I saw traditional!Billy there, and realise that was meant to be her evil duplicate or something.

Evil mean showing cleavage.

Even Cissie King knows that.

Yeah, those don't seem to be "our" Marvels. I agree the kid is Billy, somehow.

At some point, the Monitors, Rip Hunter & the Time Masters, the Linear Men, Bill & Ted, and Jughead's Time Police are going to team up and kill off Barry Allen.

Popcorn will be served.

The Reign of Barry Allen, Temporal Emperor would be interesting to see. How do you defeat someone who can rewrite history to avoid defeat?

The horns seem too short to be Cassidy; BD's usually got much longer, curlier ones.

Though you do bring up an excellent point, if Etrigan's wearing a GL Ring it'd likely be Scott's magic ring, not one from the Corps.

And I wonder who's wearing the Helmet of Fate there. Alan Scott, maybe?
