One Line Summary:

Earth 2's Trinity reunites (at long last), while Jimmy Olsen calls out Old Man Batman.

The Story:

The JSA loses the Batcave to Brutal's Parademon siege, racking up another casualty: Red Arrow.



Batman, you bastard. Not a few days ago, he offered you chamomile tea!
Also, love Jimmy Olsen's t-shirt. It's like a superhero costume, but not a superhero costume.

Jimmy confronts Tom Wayne:




Check that last panel, it's Batman: the Chastised Knight.

Meanwhile, Green Lantern and Hawkgirl rescue Flash from a converted Apokaliptian garrison, setting the stage for another new Earth 2 character/possible soon-to-be-dead-guy:



Don't get me wrong, I like the war storyline (I guess this is their version of the pre-reboot JSA's World War 2), but I hope they get back to doing classic JSA crimefighting stuff after this. Or is this connected to Future's End?


Food for Thought: This might be an odd time to ask this, but where was Alfred Pennyworth during the night of the Wayne murders? Not accusatory, just curious.

That was a pretty nice speech, but boy does the treatement of Connor Hawke suck.

Dude gets turned white and then unceremoniously killed off in the span of what, four issues? That's not great.

Kinda excited to see the Piped Piper, if only because his painfully small role in the Manapul/Buccaletto Flash actually made the character look really awesome. I just hope the Earth 2 version measures up.

But then Ollie would have to be old enough to have an adult son. I can't see DC letting that happen. Even if he was the result of say a Teenage indiscretion Ollie would have to at least be in his gasp 30's and DC wants their heroes young and hip.

Yeah, I dunno what that whole Red Arrow was about. Maybe Conner Hawke is just some codename, I guess? Like James Bond?

As for Piper, I kinda liked his status as a sort of Sixth Man for the Rogues, but it wasn't really expounded on. The new Flash team seems to be set on doing their own thang.

I hate to rain on your parade, but I believe they were stating that they were acting as a metaphorical Piped Piper, leading the parademons to a trap they were enlisting Batman's aid in laying.

Yup, that makes sense. Disappointing, disappointing sense.

I do think if that's the way it was intended it's really poor phrasing on the writer's part. In a context like this where it's reasonable to think it's referring to the character it pays to be clear.

Still my main picking bone for this series. It's like Taylor's slowly reassembling another Justice League just to try out the other cruelties he couldn't fit into Injustice: Gods Among Us.

I'm still into Earth 2, though. It's like the Candy Crush of DC Comics, except with reasonably better writing.

hell, his dialogue was perfect. i really DO hope he becomes robin. i hope this is a change "this world is grim and dark enough without you adding to it" it seems to be the fans crying out at that point
