Well, it wasn't hard to see that ending for the lady coming, but the reveal at the end is pretty neat (Though there's no reason siblings should have the same mutant powers, enough have similar abilites to make it plausible.)

As for the "Why make 'The Dark Knight Returns'?" bit... because it was telling a story about a part of Batman's life that hadn't really been addressed before (outside of Silver Age What if's where Bruce retires and Dick takes over as Batman with Bruce Jr as Robin etc) and where anything could happen because the future isn't fixed. This is telling a story about a stuff that happened in the past. so doesn't have the same freedom or flexibility of story.

Well, Creed and Logan aren't exactly mutants, right? That whole wolf-like offshoot thing.

Well, no they're both mutants, active x-gene and everything.

The wolf thing was, IIRC, a wolf-like mutant who claimed that "like" mutants should band together, so lupine mutants would all naturally form a pack... despite there not being any evidence of that apart from that story.

Okay, having google-fu'd it it seems my info was way old. Romulus probably lied about them being descended from wolves rather than apes (though I got the picture that the whole thing is 'he said she said' but Logan figures that it is Romulus that lied).

The evidence was mostly race memories that Logan started having at the start of that story, but those may have been manufactured. So, dunno.

It does look like some of it is still in play, but since it was written by Jeph Loeb I think my mind would automatically consign it to the non-canonical side of things, as a defence mechanism if nothing else.

Now admittedly science is NOT my strong suit but if the whole "mutants are the next step in human evolution" thing is even halfway accurate (and personally I think its hogwash, balderdash and just plain wrong but that's another argument), siblings having the same mutant powers WOULD make sense.

I know, trying to use real life science (or at least the Theory of Natural Selection and all that) in a comic book tends to cause problems... for the reader.

I expect another twist to explain what happens to creed's sister, this better not end with some cliche 'you killed my sister so that's why i hate you' explanation cause we just got that in the first x-men mini a while ago, just replace sister with girlfriend

Don't worry, there's another big twist in the next issue, not sure if I should post the spoiler for it though since it confused the hell out of me and needed me to re-read the miniseries to understand it.
