The art style is.. unexpected.

Not sure how "You look so young, Dad" can work since the New 52 decrees that it can't have been much more than 5 years ago, but we'll probably just gloss over that one... again.

they do want it both ways, but they have said Batman had a few years in secret. And there could have been a few years between this firing and becoming the Cluemaster

But it looks like this takes place after Year Zero, since Bruce Wayne is a philanthropist here.

I thought DC had been quite specific about denying he'd been operating in secret, it's 5 years across the board.

Superman, along with Batman, Aquaman, and Green Arrow; have been active in the New 52 for 5 years and a half. I remember because the first arc of Action Comics, which took place five years ago, stated: "The Superman first appeared six months ago...", and one of Superman's first adventures was trying to stop the hurricane in Gotham during Zero Year; which was before Action Comics first arc because he didn't have his cape or new suit. So I think at most for some of the heroes you have at least six years or five and a half years of experience.

but didn't the Zero Year show that batman or rather bruce wayne, had been operating for some time... i mean... other wise (and i know this is askign for much) doesnt make sense that an UN EXPERIENCED Batman took on Parademons and the like... i would have had to have given him AT LEAST one year to get familiarity with the tech

Yeah, I was actually going to say that. So I guess Bruce was active for six years (and maybe a little bit more in other parts of the world before returning to Gotham) as a vigilante, but five and a half years as Batman.

Me too! Does anyone know if Ian Bertram will be sticking around on the title or is he a fill-in artist?

He also did "Better Days" for nu52 Detective Comics #27, aka the 75th Anniversary special.

Whoa, is trippy art becoming a Big Two trend? Not that I mind - this reminds me of Chris Burnham's linework, from Batman Incorporated. Also, it looks like the artist really put in a hella effort on these images.

It looks trippy to me, is all. Like Batman Eternal: A Storybook by Shel Silverstein.

So... they're hitting close to the origin of "The Batman" CLuemaster, only instead of being a contestant on a gameshow and lost, he was a gameshow house who lost his cool on the air... hate how he would handle being on the newer take of Family Feud.... seen enough tumblr post of that show to loose my cool too...

Incidentally, I think the whole "game show host" thing was always a planned element of the original, pre-New 52 Cluemaster, only it never really came up in any of the stories. I've seen it pop up in several Batman encyclopedias predating the New 52.

So Cluemaster's new Secret Origin is...the basic outline for Will Farrell's Celebrity Jeopardy sketches on SNL?

Check please!

A villain playing the "I have a family" card? I get why it would work on Bruce, but man that's low.

If premeditated, it suggests some disturbing things about what Cluemaster has figured out about him ...
