It's less "we no longer own you" than "long term lease". The second British Empire will eventually extinguish you pertinent upstarts.

I like to think of America as Dick Grayson to England's Batman.
At first, we were your brightly-colored sidekick.
Then we grew up and took on our own garish identity.
Someday, we'll replace you while you're missing in time/presumed dead.
After the next reboot, we'll go back to being our own identity again.
But no matter what, we'll always be a bunch of Dicks, and you'll always be Batty.

Wow, that analogy went right off the tracks, didn't it?

(BTW: Australia is SO Jason Todd. Former criminal turned murderous anti-hero, who acts cool and bangs hot chicks while wishing they were more like "Dad.")

(BTW: Canada is totally Tim Drake. Polite, well-spoken, accomplished, quiet, possibly asexual, and everyone kinda likes them more than the other sidekicks, but doesn't say so for fear of hurting someone's feelings...)

I'm still working out who would represent Damien and Steph, and what about the various Batgirls...

Though I'm tempted to say Ireland is Damien Wayne. Violent, eternally internally conflicted, just as eager to find favor with Dad as he is to break free and be his own person. Sort of coopted into the legacy against his will.

Speaking of OP, I heard that they are going to show a preview of the upcoming Robot In Disguise cartoon (sequel of Transformers Prime) today.

I hope we get to see Starscream in it, so they confirm he didn't die at the end of Prime. And while I'm wishing, it would be nice to see Knock Out too.
