'When you're writing a series full of established characters, there's a sort of "set in amber" effect that kicks in. Real, substantive change is hard. That's not the case with "Inhuman," because so much of it is brand new. I get to build, but I also get to tear down.' -- Charles Soule

This was epic. The whole run has been impressive. I'll pick up at least this issue for the fight.

I like the Nuhuman but sometimes he's just being a dick. "My way is better than your alien ways."

So we lose Auran, but we get the Black Bolt back. Wonderful.

I'm not sure that's an improvement.

It's not. I liked Auran and I liked the Auran/Frank team, and I really don't like the Inhuman royal family, so it's a bad trade as far as I'm concerned.

I'm with Nur: They sacrifice that much to bring Black Bolt home and he just takes off without so much as a "Hi, Honey. I got stuff to do?" Or even a thank-you nod?

Pending a damn good explanation: Fuck that guy.

The Inhuman royal family has always been and will always be assholes. That's one of the reasons I dislike them--all of them. At least Maximus has the excuse of insanity.

This comes to mind: "When a man's partner is killed, he's supposed to do something about it. It doesn't make any difference what you thought of him. He was your partner and you're supposed to do something about it."

Doesn't Eldrac feel kinda redundant? Did the artist just not want to draw Lockjaw, or something?

Lockjaw doesn't have the Deus Ex factor of "sending you where you need to go". Besides, I think it's implied this is going on about the same time as the events of Ms. Marvel.

Lockjaw's been able to sniff out and port to his targets over interstellar distances in the past. He doesn't need the Deus Ex just for this kind of stuff.

And if Wolverine could be in several titles which all happened during same timeframes then an actual intergalactic teleporter shouldn't have too much trouble.

ah, but being multiple places at once is part of Wolverine's power set. Lockjaw doesn't have that.

Wolverine being able to do that isn't a good thing, and thankfully writers haven't made it a habit of doing it with every character they want to use. It's clunky and ill-fitting.

Eldrac's power is very different I suspect.

Lockjaw is a normal teleporter, he can go where he is told (or where he wants to be because he has been there before, or can see it etc..)

Eldrac can send you where you NEED to be, even if you have absolutely no clue where what you need IS, Eldrac can somehow cosmically divine it and send you there.

He's basically the same sort of overly convenient plot device character as Gateway used to be in the Australian era X-Men.

Lockjaw is busy saving all New Jersey! Eldrac can handle the little stuff like this just fine.

So we've just fridged about the only sympathetic, interesting Attilanian Inhuman we've see in a long, long time.....

Bugger.

Yeah, that is rather a sour note in what's otherwise quite decent. It's even an actual legitimate fridging, too, which makes it all the worse.

I wonder, what difference would it have made if neither of them had died?

Hold on...if Blackagar Boltagon could just whisper his brother's hands into vapor like that, why not do that at the stadium? Just whisper, disperse Maximus' head, get up and go. He's clearly lacking in whatever real compassion or love for what his brother's become, since he let him fall to his apparent death so calmly.

Was Maximus Boltagon keeping him from dialing back his super-voice?

It was assumed that using his voice would've killed everyone directly behind Maximus in the stadium. Indeed this not only shows a level of control that Black Bolt has never shown before, but he's been explicitly been shown not to have it, WRT his voice. (Every other use has been been "Nuke it" and "Nuke it harder") Which just begs the question of why he didn't use his "channel energy through his antenna" ability - which he's been shown to have far more control over to do the deed.

Either Black Bolt's been lying about how much control he has or this was a serious narrative fuck up. Neither is a particularly good look for the story.

Agreed, giving Black Bolt control over his voice in ANY way defeats the whole point IMHO, though I was also peeved when IIRC the Illuminati took him to a handy convenient dimension where he could talk normally.

Seriously. On the one hand, DAMN, that shows why he's King of the Inhumans, and you don't tell that man anything. One the other hand, damn, that's not how his powers have worked, EVER.
