They are really pushing to make Harley the DC Deadpool aren't they?

Yep. Seems the best things to do with her I guess, since the romance angle with Joker reeeeally doesn't work currently.

Yeah. Separating Harley from the Joker is the absolutely the smartest decision they could have made for the character.

Yeah, and she did already have the habit of breaking the fourth wall when she was first introduced to the main DCU. They tried Grimdark Harley with the reboot, and it just didn't work. Harley, to be Harley, has to be fun and entertaining, even though she's a psycho. She has to be, at heart, the character she was in the animated series. She can evolve, of course, and mature, but her essence has to be that lovable and funny, but dangerous, insane girl.

Grimdark-ish Harley is /kind of/ possible, but it's a really tricky balance.

Actually, it looks more like Karen's forehead is pressed up against the dome of Harley's helmet, so she can probably hear her via bone conduction.

Yyyyeah, still really not caring that they ditched the bad stuff done with the character in favour of this. This is ridiculous fun. Can Conner and Palmiotti have Power Girl back full-time too instead of the overly dull stories with Karen since the New52 started?
