Marguerite Bennett: DC Comics Bombshells is one of the wildest things I’ve ever had the pleasure to create—a story of the DC heroines, all the DC heroines, in a crisis that defines themselves as well as their generation. I cannot possibly tell you how excited and grateful I am to be involved in a story this massive and inventive. The series will explore war stories, romances, mysteries, heists, action adventure, and horror in a way that only these characters could do—I cannot wait for this book to drop. Pun very much intended.
DC has dropped several Bombshells on us today. First, there will be a digital-first ongoing comic series by writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Marguerite Sauvage called DC Comics Bombshells. According to a press release, it will introduce "retro-bombshell versions of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl in an alternate reality where super-powered female heroes are on the front lines in WWII." DC Comics Bombshells #1 will come out August 2015.
Second, DC released a slew of Bombshell variant covers, including some for male characters Aquaman and Sinestro.

Date: 2015-05-15 09:05 pm (UTC)But anyways, oh my god, I loved last years bombshell covers despite the noise about them (I love Batwoman's Baseball uniform) and story set in this universe could be a lot of fun. I'm down for it.
Also, I like the Killer Frost cover and her outfit. :D

Date: 2015-05-15 10:53 pm (UTC)Well, yes. I mean like this: a bunch of established heroes are altered slightly for statues/toys, and THEN they get their own comic book.
Closest I can think of is how "Two-Face as Batman" was done in an ad for BATMAN REBORN, then appeared as an Action Figure, then was just a hallucination of Dick Grayson as Batman.

Date: 2015-05-16 08:59 am (UTC)By contrast, they've had Capullo design toys for nearly all the prominent Batman rogues - including ones he's never actually drawn in working with Snyder - and they've been pretty comprehensive in stuff like their Teen Titans and Crime Syndicate sets of figures and the like. So I figure the lack of Dick!Batman action figure is probably based on their policy and approach to the toys at the time.

Date: 2015-05-17 11:32 am (UTC)Personally I don't buy in comicbook shops anyway because it's just more convenient to buy online... and after you factor in bags and boards, it works out cheaper too. My issue with digital is simply that I prefer to own a physical copy of things, but I'm thinking that in future I might just stick to TPBs instead of buying each issue anyway.
