Meet Victorion

From USA Today's article on the topic

Six female robots that team up to form the massive Combiner character Victorion debut next month in IDW's Transformers: Combiner Hunters comic book, and they're a motley crew made tighter by surviving pretty much the worst environment possible.

Not that writer Mairghread Scott is breaking out the welcome mat to greet them as they're introduced into the mythology.

"I don't like to give my characters a lot of breathing room, so Victorion comes into existence about a half-second before a sword flies at her head," she says.

"Naturally, her first concern when it comes to other Transformers is not being killed by them. But IDW Transformers has always been interested in how people navigate a world of shifting alliances, imperfect heroes, and charismatic villains."

The Combiner Hunters one-shot features the aftermath of the recent Combiner Wars saga and feature the female Autobots Chromia, Windblade and Arcee meeting the new Victorion, the result of a recent Hasbro Fan Built Combiner poll designed to create a new female character for toys and comics.

Pleased to see that this was a FAN voted character, much like Windblade (who recently showed up in the Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon, and even had a magical girl transformation upgrade.

The team's alternate vehicular forms include two race cars, a pair of helicopters, a motorcycle and a rescue truck. And Victorion also differs from other Combiners not only because she's female but she can manipulate gravity and has the ability to combine in different configurations. If the copter twins form her legs, she can fly, and when they make up her arms, Victorion can use her gravity powers as a weapon.

Technically speaking that's NOT new, the original G1 gestalts figures were designed to have interchangeable limbs as can be seen here in an advert for the "Scramble City" G1 line in Japan, but they weren't marketed as such in the US, so we'll give USA Today a pass, and the different formations giving different powers seems fun.

Looking forward to this!

I'm just annoyed that the fans had the chance to vote for a combiner and we still don't have a Dinobot one.

But Victorion is probably made from redecos so I guess Dinobots probably weren't possible

[frantic shushing gestures] nooooooo ... we do *not* talk about Dinobot combiners. Ever.

Traditionally, combiners (with the exception of Defensor) tend not to be the most mentally stable of 'bots. I hope they're not going to make this one flawless just because she's female.

but a canon Dinobot combiner would make the thing we don't talk about a forgotten footnote

Menasor was the only combiner who was unstable. Devastator, Superion, Bruticus and Abominus were just dumb. Defensor, Predaking and Computron were pretty stable. Computron just was slow to reach a consensus

That's what I mean. They're all lunatics or idiots (or in the case of Abominus, both). I was forgetting about Predaking, though.

... I really am the only one who liked that comic... And I mean in the world.

I can actually see a Dinobot combiner becoming the opposite of what happens to regular gestalt teams. Normally a gestalt needs to dumb down its thought processes in order to filter through five complex personalities. But with the Dinobot's simple minds, combining might actually make them smarter as a whole than separately.

IDW Superion's not too bad, once he got upgraded. Uses first person a lot, but can hold a conversation just fine and is pretty smart in a fight.

You are correct, dinosaur forms were not on the ballot, nor were beast forms.
