The present day, in Battleworld:

There's a lone stranger walking towards the city's southern perimeter:

Looks like fun! Great to see Prowler, (The Spider-Man) elevated to a monthly book.

What's interesting is that we're seeing cracks in Doom's artificial history, with Faiza clearly being presented as from the Age of Ultron AU (a direct carryover from Ewing's tie-in issues) and Yinsen dreaming of Incursions.

There are clearly a lot of deliberate inconsistencies and continuity errors between Battleworld domains. It's fun to watch them start falling apart.

It's even better when you remember how, in Secret Wars 3, Strange was claiming Doom had the power to make certain no one remembered the multiverse and thought it had always been this way. Titles like Carol Corps, Spider-verse and this one demonstrate that, once again, Dooms ego far surpasses his ability.

I also love how this issue once again shows that Victor is an evil, arrogant little bastard that deserves none of the respect he's trying to squeeze out of his victims.

It could also be a nod to the past, when Doom had the first Beyonder's power, his own doubt became manifest and essentially toppled himself - though the Beyonder (in Klaw's body) deliberately introduced the idea of how the heroes could survive and defeat him, and Doom's own ability to warp reality made that happen!

Also in Emperor Doom, Doom succeeded in conquering as a benevolent dictator using the Purple Man's influence, but let Wonder Man run havok even after knowing that he was managing to break some of the Avengers out of his control, because Doom was bored with the perfect utopia and having finally won.

It actually wasn't that clear to me that Doom was the one responsible for altering people's memories of their past. Strange has more experience doing that sort of thing, as when he changed the world's memories of his identity to "Dr. Stephen Sanders" back in the 90s (a feat that Eternity and the Ancient One had done and undone previously). It may be that expertise was more vital to that particular task than raw power.

There's more than just that, though - Doom claimed that he intentionally created the world this way. That this was the world he wanted. Frankly, I think that's more interesting if it's true than if it's false.

"Beacuse I've got my hammers right here."

Aw, Yinsen called his daughter Antonia.

Wasn't his name Ho Yinsen, though? Ho being his family name, Yinsen his given name? Or has that changed since?

In the early comics, he was just 'Yinsen'. Later versions of Iron Man's origin story have treated 'Yinsen' as a last or family name.

Yeah, 'Ho Yinsen' sounds like 'Ho' should be his family name. That would make sense. But it's not what generations of Marvel writers have done.

Aw, Faiza! Hobie! Dammit, do you ever see a character and realise you missed them so much you want to give them a for-real hug?

Interesting indeed.

I agree that Battleworld is looking fragile. Dooms world is going to explode now the pre-insurcusion Heroes and Villains are now loose in it.

Great art though.
