Issue #10 of the Black Widow series that ended this week opened in a time when Hawkeye was an Avenger and she wasn't.

She was trying to get a man named Rashid out of Islamabad.

Someone followed her, leaping from rooftop to bustop and shooting out the engine block of her car.

She and Rashid escaped into the crowd.

In the now, a man held the Widow's accomplice Isaiah captive.

In the then, she pulled Rashid onto the seat of a motorcycle and drove off.

Behind her, an arrow flew.





Hawkeye loosed another shaft.



She swung away; Hawkeye lost sight of her.

In the present, Isaiah's captors went to work on him.

In the past, Hawkeye made a call.



He caught up to Rashid and the Widow:



Hawkeye dodged her grenade, bridged the gap between his vantage point and the neighboring building with a cable arrow, and took another shot:



Rashid made it to the extraction point.

Behind and above him were the Widow and Hawkeye.



(This's perhaps the most menacing that Hawkeye looked in 2014.)



In the present, the man who held Isaiah captive (and had a scar that revealed who he was before he did) called Natasha up at SHIELD headquarters and ominously threatened her.

He then hung up.

" What happened? " asked Maria Hill.



" I need help, and fast.

" I need someone off the books.

" I need someone angry. "

(It's X-23 she's talking about; that's the stuff of #11.

Oh yes, pagecount- about 6 and a half of 20.)

More MCU retcons that we can do without, from the look of things. Bleh.

What do you mean? What was retconned?

My bad, I thought this was prior to Nat joining the Avengers proper and her established history with Clint and as such retconning things along the lines of her and Clint having met/fought prior to that, which is typical fanwank for the MCU, that Clint brought her into SHIELD.

I read and reviewed the first couple of issues. It's pretty good and it's a great series for fans of the character, though the main plotline with this villain group went on a tad too long for my taste. I say at least get the first volume, you won't be disappointed with that.

It's pretty good. It took a bit to get going and had some less than stellar issues along the way, but it also had amazing ones. The art is great all the way through.
