I'll be gone most of the day Friday, so I'll just do an entry on the next part of Godhead right now.

We enter Act 2 of Godhead with Green Lantern #36. No recapping this time besides one moment, but you should be able to understand what is going on regardless.

It's not quite what he means, but I like to think of it as Hal going "What's more powerful than these so-called Gods...? Of course! Zombie acrobats!"

I don't like the New Gods and don't look for a lot from them. But even I know that Highfather being all "We must free the universe from Darkseid's tyranny so that is can be under MY tyranny," is terrible writing

Hal Jordan's unpredictable? Since when?

Since Geoff Johns said so! Even though for the last basically always he's been a straight-laced and slightly officious dude who followed the rules and acted a lot like how most people think a cop "ought" to behave.

A huge difference between him and the other Green Lanterns that come from Earth is that he's NOT distinct in his constructs except in how mundane they are. It's not even a nostalgia/grounding tactic like with Simon, he's just that straight-forward and blunt in his thinking. Sinestro is misremembering Hal as Kyle, getting his Earthmen mixed up 'cause they all look the same.

(Lovely)

he's unpredictable within the confines of the comic book, where they are not aware of the tropes. Where the. reckless move that should get everyone killed instead works out in the end. That's still surprising and kind of miraculous to the characters

Sure, but it's his thing.

If Sinestro had said 'his brazen willingness to leap into doomed situations,' I wouldn't bat an eyelash. He's a test pilot, he ignores fear, all Hal things.

But even if something is unusual compared to other people, if they do it all the time, they aren't unpredictable.

Hal seems to steal the schtick of other lanterns, at least description-wise!

Wait, what DID happen in Blackest Night and Brightest Day in the New 52? Where did the white ring come from? Why did DC reset their history but keep all of Johns' GL storylines intact?

Everything still happened, but it was significantly less cool.

(Seriously, Barry Allen even directly refers to having the Blue Lantern ring while training Jessica Cruz, it's a little ridiculous that even Batman's history wasn't as intact.)

That's standard for the Green Lantern line, for some reason. Even Crisis On Infinite Earths didn't break continuity. Unless an event is rewritten, it all has happened. Probably because the main action is set in space, and they can just switch characters to a different Lantern. Its a huge deal if there's another Superman or someone else in the cowl. Not so much if Hal is dead or on vacation.

At the time of the relaunch GL was big enough to be largely untouched despite how little sense it made.

I try to find reasons why Batman hates the Justice League so much, but all of them make him look incredibly petty. Batman thinking Hal just does things on the spur of the moment and wins anyway would be aggravating to "Mr. PrepTime" himself.

Love that Hal smirk! :)

Wow, glad Dick wasn't around!
