So, disaster averted. (In terms of character derailment.)

Yep. She's been around since the sixties (though back then she just went by Hila and was more irresponsible than anything, her being evil was thanks to Geoff Johns).

Wow, I kind of impressed that Johns actually managed to go back and make it more hacky.

"more irresponsible than anything" It says a lot that that sounds like a breath of fresh air, since Irresponsible Troublemaker Twin Sibling by itself combines some of the most rote narrative ideas into one prosaic package.
But at least Siren making terrible decisions about civic planning or whatever would be better than dramatic yet bloated and empty scenes like this.
