"The children of the 90’s have grown up and I’m not talking of the characters but of you the consumers and fans. As I travel the country and am greeted with the enthusiasm and energy you have for the early Image era, I am thrilled to continue the adventures of these characters that shaped your youth!" - Rob Liefeld

Still pouches everywhere. Still can't draw feet. Still look constipated.

Hey now, those feet in the last scan look downright competent!

Just in the last scan. All the others are weird pie-shaped garbage.

They also don't look like the rest of the art in the other pages, meaning they're inked extremely differently... Or Rob couldn't meet a deadline.

Actually.. Yeah. That's.. That's definitely not his art.

The children of the 90s have grown up and they have unanimously agreed that Rob Liefeld comics were a mistake. I wonder if that "enthusiasm and energy" Rob mentioned was actually just people humoring him.

In fairness, he does have his devotees, and a lot of them.

He also has a reputation as being one of the nicest, most enthusiastic guys you could meet.

I still think he's an appaling artist mind you....

Personally, I'm inclined to believe that Mr.Liefeld's "nice, euthusiatic" personality is something of a façade given some of the stories I've heard about him.

Wasn't there something of a payment debacle surrounding his Extreme/Awesome/whatever 90's word Comics, particularly when he had Moore working for him on Supreme? And he did get ejected from Image when none of the others did, although some of the other founders are not above their own dickish practices.

There's also the time, while doing Heroes Reborn for Marvel, he refused to give them the artwork he did until they flew out a guy with the paycheck to him and then he still wouldn't give them the art, forcing the guy to do a ridiculous simultaneous swap with the paycheck and discs containing the art like it was a black market deal. Then there's the whole "Agent America" affair, where he created a carbon copy of Jack Kirby and Joe Simone's Fighting American to try and avoid having to pay licensing fees to Simone and Kirby's widow.

(But yes, the other founders certainly weren't that much better than Liefeld in a lot of cases.)

The children of the 90s have *mostly* grown up. Liefeld certainly seems to have successfully avoided that fate.

I don't doubt that he has fans, but I've personally never encountered any, online or otherwise. Anytime his name comes up, it usually to bash him and his art.

It's kinda nice the villain wants a corpse baby built only from the finest super person body parts. No second rate, shonky knock off after market parts for Super Zombie. No sirree!

BOOT POUCHES. I can only guess they're full of ammo given their shape and size. One would think that it wouldn't be a good idea to weigh down ones feet in a profession that requires mobility.

And really, mocking someone as a Wolverine knockoff when most of Liefeld's designs look like knockoffs already?

I'm just embarrassed for everyone involved.

He made that Wolverine knock-off, didn't he?
He created a Wolverine knock-off so his Deadpool knock-off, which he had originally created as a Deathstroke knock-off, could call him out as being a knock-off. Am I right so far?

He created a character for the sole purpose of mocking Wolverine, but the only joke he could think of is how the character looks like Wolverine. The character he created. To look like Wolverine. In order to mock Wolverine
...
I honestly don't know why that grinds my gears so much, but it does. I am physically angry about it. I'm going to have to go binge read a bunch of Seanbaby articles in the hopes that my sense of humor grows back.

See, this is what happens when you put the cart before the horse. And in this case, that cart is "I'm not sure what Liefeld's doing, but it's Liefeld, so it must be bad, whatever it is!" And you wind-up with this pretzel-twisty explanation of what's going on instead of the much simpler and more obvious one that Liefeld's simply, y'know, poking fun at one of his old designs.

It's not like there aren't already plenty legit reasons to think badly of the guy, as earlier threads in this post have pointed out. There's no reason to go conjuring up new ones.

The explanation was long and twisty, but I think the central complaint was pretty obvious. In my opinion, that joke was terrible and my dislike for it was very strong.
I couldve simply said that but I felt like exaggerating. And seeing as how this is Rob Liefeld and super extreme 90's comics we're talking about here, I'm sure a little exaggeration isn't totally inappropriate.

But while I'm here, and so I don't feel like I'm being a total cynic, the fight scene panels are pretty good. Well...they're not offensive to the eyes, at least. And the chair flip made me laugh out.

So wait, what exactly is a C O EURO SYMBOL K meant to.. Ohhh. Oh. I get it. Rob thought he was being funny, but was actually being pretty pathetic and simple, much like Millar and 'CLiNT' magazine.

And we wonder why people get the impression comics are a juvenile, childish hobby, sometimes.
