Ah this was another disappointing ending, like Marvel Zombies vs Age of Ultron. Stuff just happens, like Billy at first couldn't give Mag's his powers back, but then he can cos Wanda helps, maybe.
And speaking about Wanda, might as well as have kept her off-screen, since she was basically pointless to even show in this issue. The odd thing is how last issue, all impressions is she's cooperating with Pietro, then jump to this issue, we don't even get a lead-up or inkling that Pietro decided to keep Wanda contained. That's the issue with pacing that just made this last issue dissatisfying.
Maybe they're forced to rush because Secret Wars has to end soon with the new #1s, but definitely feels one issue is missing in between.
...because I think the re-set button is going to be hit on all of Battleworld's baronies and God Doom's fake history falls apart when they bring back 616.
It doesn't matter that there's no lasting ramifications. They should be aiming to provide an entertaining and fulfilling story even in the limited format.
Other miniseries are doing it, like Infinity Gauntlet is by far the best example, it's a story that can easily stand on its own without needing Battleworld to explain it. Siege as well, includes multiple artists and has thrilling and satisfying fights and arcs. All of them do it/are doing it in the few issues they have.
The only excuse HoM has is that Hopeless didn't bring his A-game, and didn't care to craft a story with good pacing or a satisfying conclusion. At least Inferno Saga was entertaining, and had far superior pacing compared to HoM.
Dear god, the faces...I've seen a lot of weird Magneto takes, but these look like deep-sea fish, and I don't mean Namor!
Some of these started out as excellent ideas. Revisit popular old settings and alternate universes. Like House of M. But doing new takes on them, making them different from the original settings kills that.
No-one in the original House of M knew Wanda was a mutant. And Pietro was already the secret mastermind in charge of it, with no need for a coup. This is really a different House of M, and it doesn't come across as an entertaining sort of different, it comes of as sloppy.
Like Magneto. In the original House of M, we got the subtle impression that he believed both humans and mutants prospered under his rule, as he sat on his throne far above the dirty reality of human lives. When he found out he was absolutly livid "what have you done boy... IN MY NAME!?"
This feels like the writer only very very superficially read the original story and cobbled together a hasty take on what he thought it said.
Also, the dialogue... MAgneto going "Own it" rather than talking about taking responsibility?
Your criticisms seem to boil down to "It's different from the original" as if that was through carelessness rather than deliberate intent. After all, what's the point of just echoing a story that already had a conclusion?
Sort of. In the original House of M, Age of Apocalypse, what have you, they spent a lot of time on worldbuilding. What new roles the characters were filling, how that changed them, etc.
Lots of people liked those settings. When they publish new comics, with the House of M logo on, people who liked it reasonably assumed that there was going to be new stories and new material from those worlds.
Only -surprise its not, its just places that look a bit like them. Because we can't be bothered to fit these stories into the continuity we're advertising this as.

Honestly, I don't think it's going to matter...

Pretty classic bait-and-switch.
