Admittedly the Amazon women in this story aren't the nicest, but Karl just comes across as a pathetic dickhead for most of this series.

Apparently this character is the same from Marvel MAX's Phantom Eagle which Ennis also wrote. I read it some years ago (it's ok, not the best comic), and I really don't remember him being this much of an asshole.

To be fair, it's pretty much a homage to / parody of all those old pulp adventure stories which had dinosaurs and giant prehistoric monsters running around all over the place no matter how illogical to the natural biosphere it might have been.
