If Marvel really needed a superhero character who was a mother, I don't see why they couldn't just use Jessica Jones. Remember Jessica Jones? The beloved, critically acclaimed character who's already got a kid built in and, oh yeah, also has a huge Netflix show dropping literally tomorrow. But who am I to tell Marvel how to run their business?
Anyway, the worst thing about this is that that kid is going to be around forever remember, comic book kids never actually age, so Spider-Woman is going to be toting around an infant/toddler in perpetuity now. It's not a status quo that can be easily walked back on.
And honestly, this is one of those times that I'm really conscious of the fact that even though the title stars a woman, it's by the same sort of all male creative team. I'd feel a lot more interested if this were actually coming from a woman's perspective.

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
