At last we come to the final story in the public-domain Clue Comics #1 (Hillman, Jan. 1943), starring a monkey-costumed superhero and his sometimes-sapient, sometimes-not parrot sidekick. No relation to sparkly vampires of any sort.

Twilight's origin story is the work of artist John Cassone and an unknown writer. Scans courtesy of ComicBookPlus.com.

And that's that for Clue Comics #1! Watch for my special post tomorrow, in which you get to vote for which one of its seven features you'd like to see more of. Yay!

Is Twilight aware that DC's Tasmanian Devil raided his wardrobe?

... Goddammit, I was going to mention this.

There's a surprising number of later characters who've got strangely similar costumes to these Clue characters...

Zippo and GoGo Tamago (movie version).
Micro Face and Man Ray (Spongebob Squarepants Mermaid Man enemy).
Now Twilight and Taz....

At least the parrot is more helpful than Polly who mostly just complains.

Gotta love the way so many Golden Age comics would come up with utterly contrived ways for their square jawed fighting men to squeeze into all variety of truly ludicrous outfits and adopt secret identities. With the way the characters react it seems that even the creators were skeptical of the whole thing.

Also, I can't stop thinking about a sequel focused on that parrot as some kind of undying puppet master manipulating a series of unfortunate dupes in superhero costumes, likely as a part of some sinister eldritch plot.

I love how nonchalant Twilight is about the death of the poor minister he was supposed to be guarding...

Are we going to see Twilight's most interesting villain, Brother? Any mulleted superhero who fights a gorilla dressed up like the Invisible Man is a must.
