This probably makes me sound like a Neanderthal, but the only time I could really get behind Ivy as a character was when she had a twisted crush on Batman.
Objectively speaking, it's probably insanely regressive for the character. Subjectively speaking, it was a view carried out by the likes of Neil Gaiman and P. Craig Russell, and the other takes on Ivy have *never* been executed with that level of talent (even Greg Rucka can only go so far).
A regressive view written by a superb writer that conveys depth to the character is preferable over a progressive view written by a hack that has no idea where he's going, I suppose.
The motivation that the Riddler is given in this series is still my favourite. He was beaten whenever he told a lie as a child, to the point that he's pathologically truthful. So he CAN'T commit a crime without admitting to it, so he's masking it by making the truth as cryptic as possible,

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
