Wait, so the reason she's not in a wheelchair is because a of a neural implant? Is this new information? And who is that in the rescue panel? Is that Batwing?
Stupid was feeling the need to include TKJ anyway. If they're going to have their cake and eat it, I'd rather they do some stupid 'comic!science!' stuff like this.
They should do what TPTB did on Arrow: come up with a magical scientific doohickey to implant in Felicity's spine to give her back her walking ability. When it first worked, after months in a wheelchair, she didn't even walk with a stumble or a stagger in the least! Magic, I tell you!
I think that they had a similar idea in the Birds of Prey TV show... which I'm sure they might have lifted from the Jessica Alba show Dark Angel. Both shows had a vigilante hacker who ended up paralysed and wore a kind of cybernetic brace thingy to walk around.
i think it was the batgirl suit that had like a temporary stimulant in it. it allowed her to walk temporarily to fight Shiva. but it was imperfect, dangerous and even Shiva could tell something was off... but we saw her in the suit! :D
The panel where she's being carried? That's Frankie. She took control of the RobotBatBunny suit and was using it to fight some bad guys earlier in the issue, so she's using it now to rescue Babs.
How did Barabara end up losing her mobility, never mind being put in a wheelchair, when she wasn't involved in the events of The Killing Joke (presuming said interpretation of events is true, of course)?

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.

She probably figured that it'd only work on an exposed device, and better too large than too little?

Date: 2016-04-10 10:11 pm (UTC)Exactly! If they weren't going to do anything with her disability, why bother with it in the first place?

Date: 2016-04-11 03:20 am (UTC)Well remember they originally were going to call her Oracle. The show loves to steal from Batman, to the point its just sad.
From what I recall, that's exactly what New 52 Barbara had
