'I've got a whole bunch of thoughts about the Inhumans, but relating to this [series] -- it's the "falling out of the world" aspect. You get that sometimes with mutants, as well -- that thing where you thought you were in a world that nurtured you, but actually you're in one that hates and fears you -- but it feels like a more extreme shift with the Inhumans, in that Inhumans have their own culture, their own rules, their own ethics, their own ways of doing things, much more than Mutants do.' -- Al Ewing

"Yes. I'll remember you stopped."

With insight like that, oh Queen, maybe you should be the precog instead of the precog.

Artwork is... not very good.

And, uh, wow. When did Karnak become such a colossal asshole?

Maybe he's taken in all the asshole that used to overwhelm the rest of the Inhumans?

There's a difference between being the grumpy one on the team (classic Inhumans) and this. Someone needs to post some 60s - 80s Inhumans stories to show what the appeal was. The same could be said of most Marvel characters. Yes, there was a time when the Marvel Universe wasn't a bad imitation of Watchmen.

Damn that Dr. Manhattan for turning the Marvel Universe into this. :)

That sounds like semantics. But really, let's remember these were the same group that used to have a bunch of slaves.

And there's no difference, even in the classic Inhumans he was an ass, it's his thing.

And bad imitation of Watchmen? Now you are just exaggerating.

Yeah, there was that time during Realm of Kings where he actually gave Hank Pym a little congratulation for getting over his flaws. Now he's decided to become Jaqen H'ghar.

I really loved Palo's art during Aaron's Hulk run. Having a distinct style certainly isn't a bad thing.

They're basing his looks and behaviour off Warren Ellis' run, who read "thousands of pages of soul-crushing nihilism" in order to give Karnak that extra oomph of antipathy.

Oh, he found a copy of the "Observations of the Republican Party conventions from 1960 to 1990." I... didn't actually read it myself.

I do hope I got the gasoline on it before its tendrils reached my soul.

His attitude and his look are based off of Warren Ellis's take on the character. Unlike his fellows Al Ewing reads and tries to continue the work his fellow writers have done instead of just ignoring it and writing characters as he vaguely remembers them from 15 years ago.

Marvel should stop comparing the Inhumans to mutants, they're only going to come up short.

The Al Ewing quote? What about it?

He didn't do the comparison as a negative if that is what you meant.

negative or postitive doesn't matter... The X-Men might not have a culture, in a way that makes them easier to be stand ins for other minority groups such as LGBTQ, Women, and People of color who thought they may have thier own culture, do not all share a single culture... which, for good or bad (personally i think it's mostly good, until they get to these big events where the proxy nature of the group just... devolves into horrible elitist and heteronormative crap)

so when you compare one group (inhumans) to another (mutants) the Inhumans will always come off bad in the comparion.

I'm glad someone remembers that Flint's family died because they couldn't survive terrigenesis. Same thing happened to Inferno's mother.

Those deaths are on Black Bolt's shoulders. And he gets to run a bar instead of facing any consequences

It's in Manhattan. It's called the Quiet Room and it's apparently neutral ground so heroes, villains and civilians all visit

Yeah... you should never leave anybody with Karnak.

Looks like they're taking Warren Ellis' stuff and running with it.
