So the least friendly and personable Inhuman is the one they send to help the newcomer adjust. Seems legit.

Ellis' version of Karnak seems very difficult to write, especially not as a totally unsympathetic dick or villain. For such a skippy optimist Al Ewing is doing a really good job (of course)

For such a skippy optimist, as you put it, Al Ewing can write some pretty dark stuff.

Fun fact: The first thing he wrote for Marvel featured San Francisco being annihilated, the survivors being gassed (okay, by Ultron the Trash Can, but still gassed), and Black Widow getting one of her eyes gouged out by Stunt-Master's prosthetic limb which Ultron had hacked.
Wasn't much skippiness or optimism to be had there.

"Skippy optimist" is totally not meant to write him off, most of his writing has a very positive outlook and it feels really bouyant (I can see him using the word skippy). It fits really well with Marvel. But it's cool to see him wear other hats

Are you talkin bout the Avengers book he wrote that Alan Davis drew? I remember really liking the balance between dark moments and comic bookiness (Hulk gets a grisly decapitation, then next issue he sprouts arguing Hulk and Banner heads)

I think the quote at the top helps explain why I don't like them the way I do the mutants.

Mutants are humans who gain powers and just want to try to fit in peacefully.

Inhumans don't consider themselves anything of the sort, and would probably be cool if everyone but them just died in a fire.

And yet... let's face it, Magneto and others haven't exactly been too kind to humans before, either, yet they're still somehow infinitely more likeable than Inhumans.

They are perhaps better thought of as "nice people who happen to have undergone Terrigenesis". They lack the entitlement that Medusa and co possesses, and expect to have respected regardless of how in the wrong they are.

In all likelihood, probably not.
Going by everything from Civil War onward (with the occasional exception), Marvel really seem to think having their main characters act like unlikeable jackasses is likable.

With this kind of power I always keep wondering, what counts as a "door or portal"? If I hang a plastic curtain, can it act as a portal? What about a website firewall? What forces decide what a "door" is, and how? (Wittgenstein would have a field day with such powers.)
