Then perhaps don't buy a book titled "The Uncanny Inhumans?"

Right, it's not like the Inhumans aren't the focus of Marvel's big summer event, or the X-Men's new status quo is directly related to them or anything.

Seeing as how this book is part of the problem, no.

That's like saying an issue of Action Comics that doesn't happen to feature the SM/WW romance is part of the problem because Superman is single in it. It's only tangentially related at best. If the above complaints were not occurring, you would have no trouble with this book.

How is it tangentially related? Both Inhumans series are using what's happening to the mutants as a plot point.

And to use my Action Comics example again, just because the SM/WW fit heavily in the status quo doesn't mean that every issue had it.

I'm just saying, you don't have to buy something if you feel that it would contribute to a storyline you don't approve of, but at least complain about it where it's immediately relevant so that you don't seem like a whiner.

This book is called the UNCANNY Inhumans.

Unless you want to pretend that the Uncanny title hasn't been associated with the X-Men for the last 30+ years.

The mere existence of this title is Marvel trying to have the Inhumans crib off of the X-Men's success. Even when they're not directly dealing with the X-Men themselves, they're still ripping them off by poaching the themes that have been a staple of the X-Men for most of their existence.

And I only brought this up in the first place because the other poster made the argument that if you wanted to avoid having the Inhumans shoved down your throat, all you had to do was not pick up their titles, which couldn't be further from the truth. So don't act like I started complaining about them out of the blue.

Actually, the Inhumans had the Uncanny title years before the X-Men swiped it.

Yes and no.

The actual series was just called "Inhumans." Above the title they had "The Most Uncanny Heroes of All!" So it wasn't like they were actually called the Uncanny Inhumans.

http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Inhumans_Vol_1

And seeing as how the series was cancelled after twelve issues, I don't think the already-popular X-Men series used the adjective because they were trying to steal some of their success.

And it doesn't change the fact that the Uncanny title has now been associated with the X-Men for almost 40 years now. It's why they used the title for Uncanny Avengers to signify that the team was a combo of the x-men and the avengers. So I don't think the fact that the Inhumans, who Marvel has been pushing to take the X-Men's role in the comics because of the movie rights, are now using the same title is just a coincidence.

So? Did you complain back in 2012, when right around the time the Avengers movie came out they were suddenly the focus of Marvel's big summer event and directly responsible for the new status quo of the X-Men? When four Avengers titles managed to completely push into all the X-titles?

Yes? Why don't you check out the avx tag to see what the posts were like then?

Though I don't think the two are comparable, since it wasn't like Marvel was actively trying to have the Avengers take the X-Men's place in the Marvel Universe like they are with the Inhumans right now.

Marvel has been pushing the Inhumans everywhere for a while now.

Civil War II is just the latest example of them trying to make the Inhumans happen because they don't have the movie rights for the X-Men.

Why?

From: [personal profile] 7dialsmystery
Because Marvel doesn't own the movie rights to the Mutants. Ditto: Fantastic Four, Namor, Manthing. Marvel has put them all on a bus. If they hadn't gotten Spiderman back from Sony, he'd be permanently Doc Ock'd.

Crystal's been one of my favs since her tenure with the Avengers. Nice to see her getting a push, she deserves it both as a character and as a powerhouse. Not a fan of her new hair, but eh.

Never been a huge fan of Medusa, but this series and her vulnerability with Johnny... it's grown on me. They're really pushing to make me pick this up, damnit.

As I think I said when this reveal was first made. "Oh get over yourself Crystal!"

You and Johnny haven't been a thing since the 1970's when you dumped him to go and, y'know, MARRY SOMEONE ELSE. So feeling that you had any say in any of his future relationships is arrogance on a par with... well, the Inhuman royal family.

Yes she and Pietro had their daughter, Luna.

I didn't mention the other marriage because I wasn't sure how much of that was a love match and how much a celibate political alliance under "Dynastic marriage" banner.

Yeah, there really wasn't much emotional bonding between Crystal and Ronan. Though it was surprisingly civil while it lasted.

Well in fairness, Ronan did love Crystal (War of Kings even starts with him about to deliver flowers to her, the big softie!) even if she didn't reciprocate.
And as for civil... most of that was probably because Crystal was one of the few Inhumans being sensible and reasonable in War of Kings, and not treating the Kree like garbage.

Ordinarily I would agree, but I think the fact that her ex is taking up with her sister and keeping her in the dark about it is good justification for her to have issues. It's not like she freaked out over Johnny being involved with Frankie Raye, or Llyja, or Psionics, or that woman who was pregnant with Johnny's child from the Millar run.

Even though Medusa is Crystal's sister, I've basically said this feels like Johnny is suddenly dating his ex's mom, as Medusa's always had more of a mother-like relationship to Crystal than sisterly, in my eyes.
