Well, they're adopting the voice of the TV show rather quickly. That's a hard right turn away from the bratty 'You're not my real Dad' snotty teenager they've been pushing since Superman/Batman reintroduced the character.
Not complaining, mind you, just amusing to see how hard DC/Marvel are willing to lean into the media versions of their characters when it suits them, even when it strains continuity past the breaking point. (Coulson, anyone?)
I thought Nu52 had a different take to the pre-Nu52 DCU already ? Admittedly I don't think it was anything like this either though.
Not that the pre-Nu52 version was particularly consistent either, she went through like 5 histories and backstories by like issue 30, which they decided to eventually explain as Kryptonite Poisoning.
Yeah the brattyness was abandoned with the Kryptonite poisoning retcon for the most part... and the New 52 run, she did have some issues with Kal-El, but she was mostly trying to find her place in an unfamiliar world, and I don't think this run is much at odds with that especially that she's had time to learn to fit in.
I really liked both Sterling Gates, and the Michael Green/Mike Johnson runs (I especially hope Siobhan from the later run is still in canon).
Bratty might be unfair, but I think that the Nu52 Supergirl was still rather standoffish to Clark from the bits and pieces I've seen. I mean, most of their interactions were tied into her saying, "No, you're stupid" and trying to work with Hel to bring back Krypton, until she wasn't, right?
They hadn't had the Superbrat take on the character since Sterling Gates took over pre-New52. New52 had the fairly compelling 'unfamiliar alien' take which was pretty compelling. So really, I think it's fed into a pleasant circle, with the TV show using decent stories as inspiration, and the book feeding off of that.
