Its first part'd ended with that mutated man taking a direct hit from a rocket launcher.
He'd fallen into the ocean bordering Connecticut, smoke roiling off his body.
That, by any understanding, should have been the end of him.

Daredevil heard him killing someone, but got there too late to do anything but look at what was left.
Ben Urich, meanwhile, met with Lamar Kwiat.

Elsewhere, two thugs met the Lifeform and tried to kill it.
Then Daredevil jumped in: " Not this time, ugly. "

(With this mutation, George's inner conflicts began to externalize themselves.)

Daredevil kicked George into the path of the bent cops, who opened fire on him.
He fled.

Later, Ben and Matt met.

The police lab's findings explicitly established that George was continuously mutating.
Daredevil found George trying to eat some people and confronted him, after calling Ben.
George's would-be meals ran away, leaving him and Daredevil alone.
They fought; eventually, Ben showed up with Lamar.
Detective Robbins' partner showed up too, with backup; he wanted to put bullets in the thing that'd killed his partner.
(Touching George's gunk hadn't worked out for him. The backup immediately following this detailed his horrible death.)

Daredevil knocked Lamar out of George's embrace.
The cops took that opportunity to blow him apart in a hail of gunfire.

Everyone stood in the wake of that.
" S'matter, D.D? " asked Ben.
" He was as much a victim as those he preyed upon. I couldn't help either of them. "

(That continuation picks up on those threads of Ben's, filling in part of George's psychology only hinted at in the parts before it. It's both good and written by Peter David.
This's by Gregory Wright, with art by Cam Kennedy. Pagecount's 8 1/4th of 25 from the main story of Daredevil Annual #6.)
