I love how the Wolfpack is basically just the New Warriors with an extra member of Power Pack.
No one wants to bring back the actual Wolfpack, created by Larry Hama, which had a graphic novel and a limited series.
The name was also used in the New Ultimates series for a gang that was wiped out by the Serpent Skulls. (Same issue brought back and promptly wasted the Supreme Soviets, Zodiac, and Nasty Boys as other gangs.)
Wasted would imply those particular concepts ever had any non-contextual worth that didn't depend on the story they were in or the creative team working on that story.
Just because the All-New Ultimates depiction wasn't a paint-by-numbers reproduction with a few violations to be original, or some revamp inspired by one's/the overall zeitgeist, doesn't mean they were objectively bad.
I'd call them wasted... they had like, exactly one panel each. That's enough to capitalize on any pre-existing name recognition, but with absolutely no depth or development to them. Sure, it's not like anyone is crying out for a Nasty Boys resurgence in any universe, but to use the name for a one panel throwaway mention of a street gang is to devalue it in case someone -did- want to use it.
It's something I've long argued: the UU was notorious for trying to make us care about characters and teams by invoking them without giving them any real thought. They used familiarity as shorthand, and so often it felt lazy.
At least when the Wolfpack appears in this House of M story, they get -some- nod towards the original, with the inclusion of Raphael Vega, as we might see depending on the choice of scans. Though I do wonder why, in the House of M universe, they weren't just the New Warriors.

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
