"We’re bringing it back to these sort of wild, crazy, lovably strange sci-fi roots that are so present in the Superman and Supergirl mythos. I mean, Krypton is a weird place and I’m excited to bring that sort of joyful strangeness and adventure to her, through her lens, which is unlike her cousin’s. I want to show people why she’s just vital as a character." - Steve Orlando

I'm digging this. I think this might be my favorite Supergirl set-up I've seen to date.

Although I do enjoy it, I still have a soft spot for the PAD Supergirl.

I like this. The various depressing and dark versions of Supergirl we've had since the Jeph Loeb reboot seemed wrong somehow.

I don't....I don't know how to process this. Most (possibly all) of the Rebirth titles have been GOOD. Like, really, really GOOD. Optimistic, fun and the best comics from DC in years.

I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, you know? This is a Supergirl that actually works and could actually appeal to TV viewers from her show.

I think the TV show may provide a strong pull to keep her title an optimistic, aspirational one rather than going the Black Mary route when some middle-aged writer or editor gets bored and wants a vicarious Bad Girl thrill.

If only there were a similar mainstream property that could serve the same function for Superman... I keep waiting for Jonathan Kent to get tragically killed or aged into an adult supervillain or somesuch to provide drama since the creative teams are hampered by the post-Crisis Superman having a mature, heroic personality and a happy marriage (the horror!).

I know, it's weird! The Rebirth comics are actually GOOD! It's like someone over at DC finally got a clue.

*Psst, they ought to transfer him/her to the movie division. ;)

Right? Not all, but a noticeably solid amount of most, and even the non-standouts are doing solid, tone-wise. I gotta say, it feels good having all that hope finally pay off.

Someone obvs has to go check if Geoff Johns was visited by Yuletide Ghosts or replaced by an Earth-3 counterpart or something.

Johns stuff has always been pretty good. It was Didio and his man Childness that messed things up

Well, we'll see. It seems as if DC has finally learned something--after years of struggling valiantly not to--but they've got to stick to it.

Meanwhile, Civil War Dos and the Inhuman/Mutant slap-fight have been prompting fans everywhere to ask that Marvel get its shit together. Seems to me the tides are shifting at last.

"He only will be if we give up on him."

Ah, Kryptonian Infection Werewolf. You will be missed. Nice to see a spin on the classic Red Kryptonite plot point.

Am I the only one giving the choice name of "Kara Danvers" the 'ol Clint squint? All that aside, I'm digging the art, direction, and general vibes here. I'll give it an issue or two more here before I decide whether to pick it up.
