Considering that its the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_College_(United_States) that actually chooses who becomes President, I wonder why HYDRA, AIM, or SHIELD don't hire some high level telepaths to "nudge" the electors into making the "right" choice.
Sure the whole "faithless elector" thing comes into play but the vote still counts.
An interesting spin on Loki's new role as "God of Stories", given how much of the rhetoric around this year's election cycle has involved copious use of the word 'narrative' over and over.
It used to be so easy to destroy a presidential candidate...legend has it that Gov. Thomas Dewey was brought down in 1944 by a comparison to "the little man on top of the wedding cake".

Also, rather masterful of Hastings to remember that the one thing which will surely scupper your campaign is straight-up telling people they have no choice.
An actual, less-dramatised result of the Stanley Milgram experiments: when told "You have no choice, you must continue", 100% of the volunteers refused to continue with (what they thought was) the electric torture of a stranger. Obedience to an authority may drown out morality, but stubbornness and a sense of free will comes out over all.
The most charismatic leaders don't get you to do what they want without choice. They just convince you that you made a free choice, and it just happened to be what they want.
I know there was no way that Loki would ever become President of the Marvel United States, but I expected something more from this series. I dunno, it just... what was the point?
Between this weird not-quite-familiar Loki, and the disconcerting art, this series didn't do much for me, not even after I could look at the complete story as a whole.
I think the point was that Loki was actually not willing to pander to one group to get their votes, making no promises for things that he would do when he got into power, instead working on the principle that he would do the best for everyone (both 'halves') later.
Yet people don't want to vote for a greater good of cooperation, they want to vote for someone that will make any number of flimsy promises to help them specifically, damn the rest.
I can't help but feel disappointed if he loses it, because let's face it, President Loki is storytelling gold. Not just for him, but the whole Marvel Universe.
It would be like when DC had President Lex, except he's not evil (right?). Plenty of room for antagonistic relationships with all our heroes, but maybe without this almost dire need to get him out.
It is not a new thing to Loki Skywalker, to be the last hope to the wretched and downtrodden. It was the God of last resort, and surprisingly often, It would come through for Its own. For the Æsir had a contempt for weakness and the Loki was ever contrarian to them.
The Loki liked Its chaos. It would be entirely in character for It to foster rebellions for the sheer joy of seeing order and empire fall. Sneking out under the ban of the Celestials, throwing tea in to a harbor. Running with it just to see where it went. That was how I expected It to get around the birther issue, Norse Brag style:
"I stood in the shadows behind Washington, Adams and Jefferson. I warned the smith, Paul Revere that the Britsh was coming. I was at the constitutional convention! I am the last of those great men, and I am qualified under Article II of the Constitution!
America, I have always been your shadow! I was John Henry, Harriet Wilson, Alice Paul and Martin Delany. I sang a reede in the rain at Woodstock, I walked with Martin Luther King. I stood behind you in every triumph and every tragedy of this land!
For my vice President, you shall have... Benjamin Franklin! I have called his spectre from the dark! Last of the Founding Fathers!"
