Patsy Walker debuted as Hellcat in 1976 while Black Cat debuted in 1979.
So Felicia is full of it.

Was her debut her first outing, though? Otherwise, she could have been operating for some time before being introduced.

Couldn't tell you from an in universe perspective who pull the "cat theme super person" bit first. I was more commenting on Felicia saying that Patsy was "biting her style".

When she said that Patsy was biting her style, I read that as punctuated with the sound of Selina Kyle clearing her throat.

Or Archie Andrews saying "Get in line, sister."

I really wanted to like this title - Jem, Squirrel Girl & Silver Surfer are a few of my faves at the moment because they're cute and not obsessed with everything being all grim all the time....but I think the difference is they still manage to maintain a sense of gravitas that Hellcat doesn't. Patsy's title is a bit TOO cartoonish for me to really be able to get into...more power to anyone else who likes it, and I do love that queer characters are front & centre in the support cast, I just can't really get all that interested in it though unfort!

So you don't think it's bad, you just don't think the cartoony vibe is for you? That's fair.

Yeah I would like it more if they dialled down the cutesiness just a notch - I get some cognitive dissonance with the stuff Patsy went through as a Defender & married to Hellstrom then going to this stuff - it's just a personal taste thing though, I don't think it's actually bad so much as not my cup of tea :)

Yay, another reason for me to not like Felicia!

I've disliked her before that (mainly because I absolutely hate luck-based powers of any kind), but yeah, that's not doing her any favors.

I've said this before, but lately it seems that all interesting stuff in Marvel is happening on the sidelines, away from the better-known heroes and big titles. Cut away Spider-peoples and X-beings, Iron-man and big events, and what would be left? Hellcat, Howard the Duck, Squirrel Girl, Silver Surfer, Daredevil, Vision, Ms Marvel, Karnak, Mockingbird – hell, I'd be a downright True Believer.

That's one thing about Axel Alonso's tenure as EiC, he's really allowed the second tier books to be unique and given some very different views on some of the lesser known characters.

That's good, because I really kind of hate that approach to comics, the idea that everything should have the same tone and themes. Someone (Chris Sims, maybe?) pointed out that one of the big problems of DC in the New 52 period was that they were tending toward that--that you could (and did) have a Constantine/Captain Marvel crossover because, with that editorial approach, there wasn't that much difference between the characters, even though there should have been all the difference in the world.

You've pretty much got my reading list right there, and I've quite enjoyed how they've worked with Current Big Crossover (i.e. either not at all or on the periphery like Hellcat).

I don't know, Ms'Marvel tie in to CW2 is pretty involved. Same with Mockingbird since it's her dealing with Clint being on trial while she's on a cruise.

Don't know about that, i'm enjoying several of the Spider-folk books. Mainly the Spider-Women though.
