Much like the X-Men '92 book, this is following the adventures of the Married Peter Parker from Secret Wars on a different earth, where Spider-Man and Mary Jane are still married, have a kid, and defeated Regent. Now Mary Jane uses Regent's tech to share Peter's powers when needed to help protect her family.
Maybe they can migrate to the regular continuity after their series finishes, living in secrecy in a rural Kansas farm. Peter could also use his black suit to distinguish him from the regular Peter.
Yeah, and there wasthat whole time where the Web Warriors were hanging around in Mayday's house while she was stuck on another Earth and the only person of her family that showed up was aforementioned Uncle Ben (and one panel of MJ).
Basically Web Warriors was a garbage series for Mayday. And in general.
No, no, you only think you wanted it, because married couples are boring and there's nothing you can do with them or relate to, and married couples with a kid? That's just borderline absurd.
What you want is teenage (or teenage-like) Peter Parker, goofing things up as only a teenager would, 24/7.
(Oh, wait -- Quesada's not watching any more? Never mind what I said, then.)
with this and Superman, I think I have a theory. The reason why Marvel separated Peter and may Jane (and DC tried to separate Clark and lois to a certain extent) was because they thought that made them "unrelatable" and agreed the character (and wanting it to be wish-fulfillment fantasy but that is true for plenty of stories) Long story short, they assumed both the young and old demographics had zero interest on heroes starting a family. So here is the funny thing: plenty of those old time readers are parents themselves, happy with the idea of being a parent and extremely excited to share comics with their child who are a good chunk of the younger demographic I mentioned. We have families that consist on comics fans and who feel a closer connection to this than spider CEO.
I mean, I'm an umarried fairly young guy, and my favourite run of Spider-Man ever was the JMS run where he was a teacher and renewing his married relationship to MJ. Like you said, it was exciting and personal in a way being a CEO isn't, not necessarily because I can relate to it, but because it provides an emotional and human context for his actions.
Well... yeah. I wasn't trying to say unmarried fans can't enjoy it, but rather that the older, married comic fans don't find it as a turn-off as originally assumed, but rather as a plus xD
Oh, sorry if I wasn't clear, I completely agree with you. I was just commenting I think the decision married couples are unrelated is stupid across the board, regarding both married and unmarried readers
I'd love to see Mayday visiting this universe and then choking up at seeing versions of her parents bantering and raising their daughter. And having her be a pseudo-big sister to Annie.
