I haven't seen people talk about this book much, but Samnee is just killing it on the art and storytelling here.

I think for me, the art's great, the writing just isn't clicking for me like it was on Daredevil. Partly because to have a slightly lighter take on Matt Murdock after years of increasing darkness was great, partly because 9/10ths of solo Nat stories are her with 'dark secrets' from her past or - as with her previous series - 'atonement', which.. It's sloppy MCU synergy without directly invoking the ugh-worthy 'red ledger' line. It just doesn't click to me when the character has been a hero for the vast majority of her published appearances in comics.

I agree. I read the first three issues and I was done because it felt like more of the same. I think they should have gone in a different direction with Natasha. Maybe instead of making it a spy series do something along the lines of Heroes For Hire or maybe even make it more light hearted. I think it would have been interesting if she attempted to rekindle her relationship with Matt, unaware that he's Daredevil due to the mindwipe.

This? I'm just tired of dark-past-angsty-Natasha. :/

Maybe introduce Ava Orlova to the Marvel Universe?

I thought they already were? She had that backup story in a one-shot a bit back which was meant to lead to something else.. Unless it did just tie to the Forever Red book.

That said, I'd love to see that. A lot of the Avengers have legacy versions now in one way or another, and Nat is.. Maybe the least suitable for mentoring out of all of them, although she does have her moments. So they should totally do something with her and Red Widow properly.

As far as I know, all of her stories are set in the MCU.

Right up into she confronts you and you're forced to kill her (or she actually kills you). So yeah (again).

but at least then, the predictable conclusion was something Natasha specifically wanted(for whatever reason) as oppose to her simply mocking someone on the ground and then surprised when they enact revenge.

In this case, it's someone who's already a sworn enemy, though. It's not like Recluse would have left her alone if she'd been nicer.

Yo Natasha. Maybe instead of mocking the insecure second fiddle assassin apprentice and tell them that they're basically human trash, why don't you try to actually help her? Y'know, like a superhero? I mean, seeing as how as you both have pretty much the exact same horrible past of being soviet child super soldiers raised to do nothing but kill I'd think you'd be able to sympathize instead of being all like "You're not as good at being a horrible super spy murderer and that means you suck because me being a murderer was apparently awesome? Buh-bye!"

This is all in the interest of, I dunno, not having another fucking nemesis running around? You could at least try it out, alt east for the sake of justifying yourself standing around in the same movie posters as Captain fucking America.
