Superman For All Seasons #2 (of 4): Summer

The story begins with Superman doing superheroics while Lois narrates how much of her wolrdview has been put into question since Superman's arrival, from Perry's "Do not believe what you see" to her cynical "we kill each other" to even that maybe "prince Charming" is real after all.

Then we have Superman saving Lois from a bunch of terrorists (implied to be Luthor's goons) and embarassed Luthor all at the same time.


Both Luthor and Superman offer Lois a lift and, of course, Lois accepts Superman's offer. She then meets up with Clark at the Daily Planet but since this is set back when Lois saw Clark as a rival, they throw some jabs at each other.














We go back to Metropolis where Some of Luthor's men in power armor try to put out a fire but completely ignored a woman trapped inside. Luckily, Superman is here to save the day.




But Luthor is not happy at being humiliated by Superman once again.

The panels of Clark coming home, to a studio apartment, unwinding after a long day at work, are what I consider some of the most defining imagery in the Superman mythos.

The most powerful being on Earth comes home, kicks off his shoes and eats a sandwich, JUST LIKE WE DO.

ITs what Zach Snyder should be beat over the head with until he gets it.

There it is, the Smallville carries the Daily Planet thing! I was looking for that last post.

Anyway, what's up with the 'ignored a woman trapped inside' thing? Was that neglect or accident?

neglicency. Luthor's men claimed everyone had been evacuated, but Superman proved them wrong almost instantly.
On smallville, i think my favorite bit may be that there is a Daily Planet framed in the wall of the general store. these scans are too small, but bellow "Superman Stops Magpie" can be read "by Clark Kent"

Y'know, not really a fan of Loeb's writing (even without the massive drag factor of Ultimatum alone), BUT...
This is actually pretty nice.

-"Mud on city shoes has its own sound"-
... that is Pa Kent, right? Not Batman disguised as Pa Kent for his own ludicrously over-elaborate purposes?
Because that's a pretty impressive bit of hearing for an old man.
Also, very Batman-y.
