Apparently Richard Rider returns in this issue too, but this was too cute not to include!

Well, technically Rich came back in the last issue of the previous series.

And it turns out his dad died at some point. (No mention of what's become of his little brother Robbie, or even any mention of Robbie at all, but it's only the 1st issue. No need to be concerned. Yet.)

It is just a bit unfortunate that in the handful of pages he's in this book Richard manages to outshine Sam.
That he remembers to wear clothes and doesn't fly into birds helps.
(I get that Sam's meant to be the Young, Inexperienced Hero, but there is such a thing as overdoing it.)

The endearing thing about Sam is how honestly stupid he can be sometimes, whether it's taking off his helmet in midair or revealing his secret identity to someone he's known for 5 minutes. He's almost silver age Hal Jordan level.

Good lord, this art is some of the worst "drawing children as dwarves" syndrome I've ever seen, and isn't Sam supposed to be like 15 anyway?

I wonder if the problem is that if you have to draw, say, elephants, you can do a google image search for "elephant" and away you go. If you have to draw 15 year old boys you end up on a list...

The art here is not great, but Sam's usually drawn on the shorter side anyway.

I don't think it would even occur to Tony to use "I'm Iron Man" as a pick up line. Not when he could just say "I'm Tony Stark."
