Junji has the same reaction to cosmic horror as he does to keetoms.

(Also, I would love to see Junji Ito's take on the Cats of Ulthar).

Seriously. It's a cute slice-of-life about owning cats, only with terrifying madness and obsession faces. So, is Junji Ito gently mocking himself, or does he interpret everything through horror?

I'd believe either.

At his most exaggerated, Junji Ito's self-depiction looks something like a younger version of Dick Tracy villain Mr. Bribery.
