At least in this excerpt, the only real tie to Chicago seems to be the glimpse of the John Hancock Building on the cover. I amused myself by checking to see if there really are Chicago police stations with the POLICE light globes outside--I lived there from 1977 to 1982, with regular visits back since, and never saw any--and while there apparently are such things elsewhere, the closest thing that Chicago has to that is this old station, with plain light globes, which has appeared on Hill Street Blues and Chicago PD and currently houses the campus police for UIC.
