Come to think of it, how could a species of ant that attack each other at every opportunity survive long enough to breed, much less create a sustained colony?

(His lack of... well, "humanity" for want of a better phrase is kind of one Silver Age Superman's least appealing traits. Right after the Superdickery.)

Also, rendering crime utterly impossible and having robots to police all disasters would surely put every other hero out of a job. Not Silver Age Superman's problem, though.

Yeah, as far-fetched and devoid of conflict as is this story (the latter so much so that it barely qualifies as a "story" at all), it's a refreshing change from "Lois (and sometimes Lana) as buttmonkey" stuff.

Plus Lex's intellect wasn't boosted the way the Supermen's were. Meaning he could have invented his miracle cure at any time, thus making him more popular than Superman, rich beyond all measure, and he'd even have his hair back. Damn it, Lex.
