If the MCU did something like this in a time travel story, would they use different film stock? If they went back to the 1940s, would everything look like a Republic Serial?
Probably not, comics are one of the few mediums where meta stuff like this works. (I can think of some exceptions like horror films having black and white scenes as throwbacks to the Universal pics for example.)
Since the MCU didn't really exist so far back as to have direct references, probably not. As it is, the period stuff we have seen has looked... well, pretty regular, as I recall.
Though the Lego Marvel game has the Agent Carter flashback minquests in faded colours.
There's also a nice little scene in the LEGO BAtman Movie level pack where Robin sees Gremlins on the wings of the Batwing and they do a cute little shoutout to The Twilight Zone's "Nightmare at 20000 Feet" in black and white.
Bendis aside, I'll admit I do miss this incarnation of the Sentry. I liked the idea of a Superman-level guy with issues that make him as potentially dangerous to his teammates as he is to villains.

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
