Date: 2017-05-28 07:04 am (UTC)I've never understood why so many aliens in fiction are portrayed as being just as greedy and brutal as humans. I kind of prefer the idea of them being like Klaatu from The Day The Earth Stood Still, and kind of seeing humans as an immature species, but not being completely malevolent.

Date: 2017-05-28 08:49 am (UTC)Also it does depend on where one goes for fiction. Novel SF is more likely to go with benign aliens. TV and movie, more hostile. Comics... something of a mix with friendly space cop aliens helping fight alien invaders every other week.
