We've got hundreds of thousands of possible victims at minimum.
Assuming the population geography of NYC and Metropolis are similar, it might actually be close to 1.4 million children at risk of death by Toyman junior.

And she has the sheer unmitigated gall to focus on having to ask Supergirl for help?

This reporter, she is patently unsympathetic.

SUPERMAN RETURNS had a similar ending. Lois Lane has an article title called "Why The World Need Superman" and can't think of anything to write.

Could we just once, oh, I dunno, have a new villain that isn't a murderous psychopath? Aren't there any crooks who are just in it for the money now? Or ones that want to humiliate the hero but aren't that interested in killing anyone?

The Dollmaker was the only one of the foreshadowings from that annual that ended up getting paid off.

(Interestingly, they're all legacial- the execution of this, Nick Spencer's would-have-been-before-he-left-the-book take on Lex Luthor's Other Son, and the very phrasing of " Scion of Superwoman ".

Unless, of course, that last one was about Lucy Lane's Toyota getting possessed by the lingering traces of her resentments.)
