 For those not familiar, 'Here's Negan' is an ongoing mini-comic in 'Image+' detailing the origins of our hero before he first appeared in the main title.

Where we last left off, Negan's wife Lucille died just as the zombie apocalypse began.

I don't think it's purposefully so but this reads like a parallel to the angst-treadmill the Walking Dead can fall into.

I don't really like Negan, but when you see how this all went down, you gotta feel for him. It's like, he makes a friend, they die. He makes a friend, they die. He makes a friend, they die. So of course he basically snaps and becomes the fucking motherfucker that we fucking love. Dicks. Fuck dicks. Shit.

Despite the heinous things he's done in the comics, I hope he manages to find some sort of redemption, if just to prove everyone wrong.
