"IMHO Matthew Rosenberg is one of the best new writers in comics, and he's doing a great SECRET WARRIORS tie-in with Javier Garron." - Nick Spencer

What evil genius decided to give that monkey a gun?
Also, the whole banter in the car is really quite cute. It feels very natural - apart from the "manspreading" line, which just kind of came out of nowhere.

It's Hit-Monkey. His whole thing is that he's an angry monkey who wears suits and shoots people.

Yeah.

Which IMO is a cool idea for Deadpool, but an odd thing to play straight as they always do lately.

ok... so they ARE looking for the X-Men's help... can some one fill me in on the X-Men/Inhuman Dynamic?

I am really hoping this event bonds them closer... with the ocassional "Oh you DON'T like being on the verge of extinction and placed into camps? too bad no one tried to stop shit like this from happening... oh... wait... "

Likewise!

"X-men help those in need like Inhumans," would be a nice dynamic I hope they're going for it.

Uh, why is Dum-Dum working on team Hydra? That seems a bit of a leap.

I think this one is an LMD, probably doesn't have free will.

Yep, that's an LMD. Every modern Dum-Dum appearance has been a LMD, because thanks to the magic of retcons, the original died back in 1966.

From: [personal profile] scorntx
Well, he didn't "die", exactly. He was just Only Mostly Dead.
And Nick Fury, loyal and eternal friend he was, did the only thing he could do when his bestest friend was rendered Only Mostly Dead:
Bung his corpse into a cryogenic tube and never tell him.
(Also, he went through his pockets, just in case.)

Duggan's mind is broadcast via wifi into an endless body of LMDS, but he's still the one in the driving seat.

I think U.S. Avengers ended with Roberto finding the real Dum Dum and using him to shut down the LMDs

Yes.
Rictor has an absolutely ridiculous mustache.
What's better/worse is that when we see Shatterstar later in this issue... HE HAS ONE ALSO.

I just can't even explain it. Why do these weird time-jump crises always result in awful/awesome hairstyle changes for characters? Guido with a beard. Gambit with long flowing locks. Rictor and Shatterstar with the sort of pornstaches you only grow on a dare...

Doug and Lock are in hiding from this event in case they end up with neckbeards or cornrows

Date: 2017-06-16 12:32 pm (UTC)
From: [personal profile] scorntx
But Lock's mechanical. Surely he'd just wind up covered in spikes in ludicrous places.
(Ack! Trying to imagine Warlock with a cornrow! No, no! Abort!)

He's not mechanical, he's technorganic (Some fans are sensitive to that, to the extent that a friend of mine now sells a T-shirt, stressing this point :)

So he might get cornrows AND spikes!!

Bearded Guido is Best Guido.

Pornstache-and-Capris Rictor is Worst Rictor, and that's really saying something, because Rictor has always been objectively terrible.

Think about how terrible you have to be to be a part of one of the first openly gay couples in Marvel and the internet -still- doesn't care about you. This is arguably why Marvel made that decision for his character: if there was a huge backlash, they would only lose Rictor, which isn't really a loss at all.

Mephisto can be a right bastard when it comes to making deals;

I don't think he died when he became King of Hell. And he lost the throne when the Thunderbolts deposed him.
But he stayed in Hell hoping to get his soul back.

He popped up randomly in Death of X as one of the mutants who helped Cyclops distract the Inhumans while Alchemy destroyed the first Terrigen cloud

Death of X was post-Secret Wars.

The way "THESE $%#!@& IDIOTS" appears in a logo font makes me want it to be an actual comic title.

And I continue to enjoy that Moon Girl is the only person Karnak appears to be anything approaching nice to.

That cover is a hot mess. The color is atrocious and the style is just so...random. And considering how this ties into a plot involving America being taken over by a fascist organization and countless people being killed or imprisoned, why is Moon Girl smiling?

Can't she be smiling at her Hydra-kneecaps-kicking robot's success? (Disclaimer: There is no such robot in this book.)

Such a robot probably would have made the book better. Maybe you should hang out on Twitter and perhaps Marvel will give you a job, that seems to be how they find writers these days. :)

I like the quasi-Aaron Stack vibe he's got going on here. Maybe I just want more Nextwave in general. Possibly.

Really, though, he's great and the interactions of the entire crew are great.
