Golembuski leaves Madam Rapier in charge of the incoming shipment, since his daughter is taking him to see the Producers. He also instructs Rapier that in the event of an attempted theft, she should abandon Constrictor, Shocker, and Jack O'Lantern and book it with the blood diamonds.

Meanwhile, Parker's girlfriend discovers a condom in his pockets and accuses him of cheating, but he claims it's his lucky condom his father gave him before he passed on. She makes him promise to never hide anything from her.

THAT get's you on the Ten Most Wanted List in the Marvel Universe? There are easily twenty people in the MU who have done way worse but "attempted murder" jumps you ahead in line. Wow.

Maybe they, like, take a realistic approach to it? They know they won't be taking down Ultron or Kang, no need to put them up there. But some small-time villain, just starting out? Sure, they could conceivably deal with that. I'd imagine there's dozens of z-list villains that get taken down by regular cops all the time in the MU.

No, you're completely right, and the comic addresses that. Some of the pages I skipped follow an FBI agent with a particular grudge over costumed offenders. Part of his reasoning is that over 99% of crimes are committed by regular people, but the thing everyone is scared of is supervillains, so SHIELD is getting all the best people and resources while the FBI is gutted.

So "The Hood" is being made an example of because of inter-agency politics and this guy wanting to remind everyone that FBI still matters.

So it's similar to J. Edgar Hoover going after John Dillinger? Trying to make the Bureau credible? That I can get behind.

Exactly. The agent even cites going after Dillinger as an inspiration, because Brian K. Vaughn is a history buff who likes to show his work.

This is years before that you know. You also forget that Constrictor loses a lot and is not even close to being an A lister.

And even then, the trio of Constrictor, Jack O'Lantern and Shocker were wiping the floor with Robbins, best he could do is get a lucky shot in and run away. That's not jobbing, so you're using the term incorrectly.

Also, this particular mini series was written by BKV, not Bendis.

Constrictor loses a lot because he is a bad guy. That's hardly a litmus for ineffectiveness. Dr. Doom loses a lot too. Hell, somebody was pointing out last week that Shocker has one of the best win ratios against Spider-Man.

He's not an A lister, but he regularly gives named guys a run for their money. He has gone to to toe with the likes of Cap, Spidey, and Iron Man and come out okay (in the short term). The Hood's power set and inexperience make him a one issue Daredevil bad guy on a good day.

And they were't wiping the floor with him. He got caught in an area blast, enough to make him visible, but not enough to stun him, as evidenced by him booting Constrictor in the face (stunning -him-) and promptly turning invisible again.

Experienced tough guys being made to look like chumps to build up the new guy is -exactly- what jobbing is.

And since when is BKV -not- a superstar writer?

Nah, Constrictor loses a lot because he's a C-list villain that usually works as a henchman. It's like complaining about about Heath Slater losing a match to Finn Balor. So no, you're not using "jobbing" properly, because it's not simply when a character loses. It's not like Parker Robbins got one over Green Goblin, Doc Ock and the Red Skull.

And the you actually read the issue not just these scans? Because they were moping the floor with him all he was able to do was get a lucky shot in and turn invisible and run. It was established that at this point, Parker Robbins stood no chance against them

Also, the only one of those three that has given Spidey and other big named heroes a run for their money is Shocker, not Constrictor. Hell, The Hood even says Shocker is one of the best in his second mini, which is one of the few times anyone shows old Herman respect.

And Jack O'Lantern only became a Badass when his corpse was possessed by Lucifer and even then Ghost Rider beat him easily.

The way you said "Superstar Writer" made it sound like you meant Bendis. And unlike Bendis, BKV did have The Hood struggle against more experienced foes.

You know, i really liked Shocker, Jack O'Lantern and Shocker working together, the made an interesting Trio.
