"What if a fascist, autocratic President took over the United States? And what if that President lost California, the sixth largest economy on Earth, by nearly 2-to-1... a margin of almost 3 1/2 million votes? What if the day after that President took power, the largest mass demonstration in history occurred, and the state with the largest turnout was California. And then, the following week, two of the largest international airports in the world, California's LAX and SFO, were blockaded by protesters? What if California refused to be ruled? From the creators of YOUNG TERRORISTS, Matteo Pizzolo (GODKILLER) and Amancay Nahuelpan (CLANDESTINO), comes this tale of resisting oppression, punching Nazis, protecting each other, kicking ass, and demanding liberty for all."

Date: 2017-07-12 07:07 pm (UTC)Look who suddenly gives a shit about state's rights and sovereignty in the face of people who live in parts of the country far away telling you how to run your life base on their values.
I would find it amusing, but I doubt the comic's answer to the problem of government abusing power is going to be less government. I am pretty sure the answer is just going to be more the "right type" of government.

Date: 2017-07-12 07:22 pm (UTC)It'd be nice if the US had a government like that, or atleast California.

Date: 2017-07-13 07:57 am (UTC)When Lincoln was elected (signifying that they could no longer dominate the political process, it's not like he actually did anything) they seceded. And they all pointed to slavery as why. Hell, they made it illegal in the Confederacy for a state to ban slavery! So much for 'states' rights'!
There's also what Washington pulled in Pennsylvania
