This is one of my favourite Preacher issues for some reason. Maybe the devil going, "Yes! GET OUT YOU FUCKER!" and then immediately regretting it.

EDIT: Whoops, that's the start of the NEXT issue. This one had lots of great moments, too. The devil being completely broken is hilarious.

Satan: All he does is hate! All he seeks is revenge! All he wants is to kill!

Angel of Death: Cool, let's make him invincible and give him the power to kill us.

Satan: So you want me to give the hateful, vengeful murderer I've been torturing for ages the ability to kill us?

Angel of Death: Great plan, right?

Satan: Yeah, I love it! Let's do this!

Did Satan torture the Saint that long?

Kinda reminds me of Ned Flanders passive parents, trying to control their son. Paraphrasing...

"I've tried one thing at all and I'm all out of ideas!"

Satan, trying to whip the hate out of the Saint, gave up once he'd flayed him down to the spine. So whether it took a long time or not, it sure as H-E-Double-Hockeysticks must've felt like it.
