Umm... is the kid bending her knees at the end because I can't tell. The image looks... off.

Also, the first time the series might feel like Alias and not just an extension of other Marvel books without being a tie-in.

#sigh# Why won't bendis leave Carol Alone he did enough to her already during civil war II. Also, Danvers need to be freed from this forced friendship.

This might not be the best way to put it but, there is no chemistry between them so their friendship doesn't feel natural or even believable. The more Bendis tries to make it seem like there are BFF's the more forced it is.

They've been friends for close to two decades now I guess it's a matter of perspective because they had plenty of chemistry in their Alias scenes together. But even then Carol has generally been a minor character in Jessica's comics, it's not like he's doing some big push of all of a sudden because of Perlmutter.

That's it. Jessica needs to go all "Smile" on his ass. It's one thing to mess with her (which was already bad enough) but he is messing with her kid. Luke can help, but Killgrave is hers!

I have such a hard time caring about these "long running" feuds. There is zero reason Purple Man should still be breathing. Even Spiderman would have murdered that dude by this point.

She needs a new rival, villain, foil, whatever

Bendis already established the character's relationship with Jessica in Alias long before the show did.

So? Bendis openly acknowledges this series existed because the show made him want to revisit alias.
But I guess we'll need to see if purple man had a regeneration recently...

Bendis never said that. The show helped start conversations going again and obviously Marvel wanted to capitalize off of the success of the Netflix show but he's always been adamant that the comic would remain its own thing and not be overlapping with what the show does.

That's not what I said? He loved the tv show and he said that, around Civil War II, he began having ideas for a new Alias. I think it's pretty clear Jessica Jones gave Bendis a desire to re-visit Alias.
Purple Man is here because Jessica Jones had Purple Man and, watching Jessica Jones, made Bendis want to write a new story involving Jessica Jones and Purple Man.

And not because he was incredibly important to Jessica’s story in the initial run?

I don't think this specific story started to take form properly or Bendis felt the inclination to write it until he saw the tv show, no.

He may have had some general ideas and dropped concepts that have been retaken for this story, but i also believe what helped to shape the story into what this scans show was the tv show.

The simple evidence that Bendis found himself loving the final product and that this project wasn't announced until after the show had aired.

This is nothing revolutionary: Jessica Jones made Bendis want to come back to Alias.

Bendis doing the comic because of the show (which is debatable) and Bendis having storylines inspired from the show are two different things.

FWIW, Bendis directly credits multiple conversations he had with the showrunner for the Netflix series as being the thing that inspired him to write another Jessica Jones series. I don't think the series itself was the inspiration so much as the creation of the series (and subsequent increased visibility for the character) as well as things like it winning a Peabody.

Any time two writers are sitting there, talking about the character, both writers are formulating a pitch. You can’t help it. It’s the way your brain is trained. After talking about Jessica at WonderCon, I emailed Melissa later in the week and went, “Shit, I think I might have to do this. I’m thinking about doing the comic again, because the last conversation we had made me think of this.” And she went, “Do it!” Once you have a story, boy, you’re done — it’s very hard to come up with reasons not to do things. That’s the bane of any writer’s existence. I told Marvel, “If you guys are ready to go on Jessica, I got something.” Michael needed a few months to finish something he was working on, but that gave me time to do research and get it all polished up."

Yeah that's more or less how I see it. What I was disputing was the idea that Bendis saw the show and went "This gives me an idea for a new series" as opposed to "Now would be a good time to bring Jessica back because of the show".

To me an indication of the show bleeding into the comics would be something like Bendis introducing Patsy Walker into the comic (as she was the proxy for Carol in the show) any of the other characters that were introduced in the show.
