yeah well. i was raised catholic... so (political issues aside) respect for women is drilled into me... but if one were to try and physically assault me i would do what i had to to protect myself and those i love.
Bobby doing amazing and astonishing things (pun intended) with his powers would be cool, but transporting the team through "Molecular Inversion" is a bit much. They should keep it in "Bobby can occasionally do some really incredible things with his powers, but takes a physical and mental strain on him" area.
well... one would argue dark bobby WAS a result of mental and physical strain, and this here seems to indicate that as well. he doesn't like doing certain things because of the mental tax on him.... also how DOES one experiment with shattering himself (or parts of himself) to see if he "Fixes" himself. it would be one of those "Ok cool... but i don't want to test this again unless you know... i have to..."
I've been mostly liking this series, but the conveniently attacking supervillains/bigoted anti-mutant groups are getting as contrived as a Three's Company episode by now.
I would really like to see Bobby just go on a regular date with a regular person, not a teammate or supervillain or robot/clone/alien disguised as a regular person. And not have that date JUST HAPPEN to be crashed by a supervillain or bigoted anti-mutant group.
I'd be willing to waive the (former) teammate thing in the instance of Hercules...
I wish there was a better artist for this book. It doesn't really look down. His dad looks all neck and reminds me of either the landlord from Goodnight Punpun or a turtle.
In Amazing X-men a few years back Cyttorak's ruby reappeared on Earth and a bunch of different villains wanted to steal it for themselves to become the new Juggernaut. Cain ended up getting the power for himself again complete with a new costume and the pesky telepathic weakness is no longer an issue.
Or alternatively you could accept that some gay guys don't come out till they're older and have repressed who they are for a long time, probably partially cuz there's always some smartass making snide comments about how they can't REALLY be gay if they had sex with women.
My first boyfriend had been married to a woman for 6 years and had 2 kids he was devoted to before I met him. It's not unusual.
Yeah, but most of them haven't spent their lives around at least three of the most powerful telepaths on earth. Two of which (Xavier and Jean) would have at least tried to help him come to accept it instead of repressing for 20 or so years, and one (Emma) who would have absolutely used it to mess with or manipulate him if it suited her.
I'm all for gay characters, but that doesn't mean Booby being one isn't a clunky, poorly written and explained retcon.
Heck, in more recent times we still get to see the character's thoughts, just in narration boxes instead of thought bubbles. So yeah, we've pretty much seen Bobby being genuinely attracted to women for 50 years.
Honestly everything about this would've been 100% better if they had just made Bobby bisexual instead. The "repressing his attraction to dudes to try and be at least a little normal" bit still would have worked just fine, without making 50 years of relationships and thoughts in his head into lies. It still would have raised questions about why Charles and/or Jean never tried to help him or Emma never used it to mess with him, but that's significantly less retcon to deal with.
Is Cain back to being a one dimensional brute threat now? Pity, his weird kinda redemption ark was the one thing I remember liking about Austen's run...
